Reiki is both a spiritual practice and an energy healing system originating from Japan by its founder, Mikao Usui. Traditionally open to any belief system, this simple, non-invasive and natural method can work on all levels - physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually. The benefits of a Reiki treatment may include deep relaxation and the promotion of a calm, peaceful sense of wellbeing. Essentially, Reiki may work by activating the body’s natural ability to heal itself through deep relaxation and through encouraging a healthy flow of energy. Nowadays more than ever before, the stresses and worries of modern life can all too often lead to overwhelm, anxiety and feeling lost. Reiki can be used to support and release these emotions, often renewing clarity, bringing about peace and restoring the momentum we need to move forward in our lives. Many clients turn to Reiki to complement (but not replace) other medical or therapeutic techniques, finding it effective and beneficial in treating and relieving a number of symptoms and conditions.

“HJC : Forever a LINGUINI!”

Today marks 4 years since I left my teaching job and, at my lunchtime leaving do, that’s what the gorgeous cupcakes spelled out! (As well as “Reiki Master”🤍)

🙊I don’t mark that day to gloat that I got out
or
🙊to boast that the grass is so much greener in self employment
or
🙊to tell you that life somehow miraculously became perfect

I mark that day because
💚I am grateful for all I learned about myself in that job and since
💚I remember what an incredibly brave move it was for me to step away

I mark that day because
💫I was part of an incredible community, particularly within my department (MFL), we named ourselves “the Linguinis” and amongst them I found friends for life that I keep close to my heart and always will🤍

That day is part of my story and I really am “forever a Linguini” because you still find me passionate about languages and SUPER passionate about learning!

I’m just a very different kind of linguini these days!…

This accredited REIKI 1 course is designed to immerse you in two days of highly personalised learning and healing, in a small group.

The course equips students with the knowledge and practical skills to get started on incorporating Reiki into their day-to-day lives, to perform self-treatment and to perform treatments on friends, family and pets.

Attunement and training in both Western and traditional Japanese lineages of Usui Reiki.

A beautifully meditative and therapeutic two days in the village of Alvechurch, Worcestershire.

No prior knowledge or experience necessary.

This course is a fully accredited module that can count towards the Alvechurch Reiki PROFESSIONAL REIKI PRACTITIONER DIPLOMA. Approved and accredited by the UK Reiki Federation, all aspects of the course follow the Core Curriculum for Reiki in detail and strictly follow the guidelines for training by National Occupational Standards in the UK.

On evolution and refining my purpose as a teacher……

This week marked 4 years since I taught my first Reiki 1 Course - a milestone that has given me cause for reflection.

📝I’ve written my first (long!) post on Substack, exploring and sharing 10 gems (pearls?) of wisdom from the sometimes murky waters of my experience.

The eternal process of evolution as a teacher has me knowing I will never “arrive” at perfection. Therein lies the refining of my purpose.

To summarise the gems :

For World Kindness Day and for every day…..

We are compelled to carry our burdens all alone; to do our healing in isolation and as individuals.

If you see that someone is suffering, offering a listening ear (and TRULY listening deeply is what I mean - not listening to respond or listening to rush in and fix) you can play your part in building community and a collective space for that one person. And all others.

Of course, we often can’t see that someone is suffering. So actively choosing to be kind so it simply becomes your way of being, helps to acknowledge that…..

….we were never meant to carry it all alone

This is your sign to take the pause you need.

Take your time over it - whether it’s a moment to light a candle, a meditation, a long, slow moment. However you choose to define it, take the pause before you show up for others.

This really is the thread that runs through my teaching here at Alvechurch Reiki, regardless of the level of training : remembering that Reiki is first and foremost a practice for self healing.

The more seasoned you are at that remembering, the greater the ripple effect and the more helpful a space you can hold for others.

You’re worth it xx
