The benefits of a Reiki treatment may include deep relaxation and the promotion of a calm, peaceful sense of wellbeing. Essentially, Reiki may work by activating the body’s natural ability to heal itself through deep relaxation and through encouraging a healthy flow of energy. Nowadays more than ever before, the stresses and worries of modern life can all too often lead to overwhelm, anxiety and feeling lost. Reiki can be used to support and release these emotions, often renewing clarity, bringing about peace and restoring the momentum we need to move forward in our lives. Many clients turn to Reiki to complement (but not replace) other medical or therapeutic techniques, finding it effective and beneficial in treating and relieving a number of symptoms and conditions.

Each session includes a short guided meditation, followed by 45‑minute hands‑on / hands‑off Reiki. Adults and children welcome (under 16s accompanied by a parent/carer).

These can all contribute to the Alvechurch Reiki Professional Practitioner Diploma, enabling you to join the CNHC’s accredited voluntary register for complementary therapists, on successful completion.

✨My courses centre on meditation, mindfulness, self‑healing and high professional standards. Group sizes are intentionally small for a personal, supportive experience. Courses take place at Alvechurch Reiki, .uk and Hopwood Village Hall.

✨monthly Reiki Shares, offering a supportive community space for Reiki enthusiasts and practitioners of all levels.

✨Alongside my Reiki work, I volunteer fortnightly at a local day hospice.
I’m also currently completing the Death Doula Preparation Programme through Sacred Circle Training CIC, deepening my knowledge in death, grief and bereavement work. I’m not yet sure what offerings will emerge — for now this journey is about learning, growth and integrity.🌱

間 ma = the space where meaning exists

I’ve been reminded this week that I NEED space and I NEED the pause. Do you know what? 🤍I really do take the space and I take the pause, because I definitely notice my body knotting up and my thoughts becoming more anxious when I don’t allow myself space.

🌀Practically, how this looks during my schedule is the time I dedicate to sitting or lying in meditation before a client arrives. It’s the moment to sit and be in the healing space I have created, both before and just after a Reiki session with a client. My hands wrapped around a hot mug of tea and my gaze drifting through the window to the skies above.

✨How this looks during my teaching is the pause between rushing around, setting up for a Reiki course and the students arriving. Again, it’s sitting in meditation and it’s sitting with the blissful silence. That space strips back the layers and reminds me that my original nature is calm and not frenzied anxiousness.

📚How this looks when I’m teaching languages is the clear pause between sessions. Having posted material from the previous session, made a hot drink and got material open and ready for the next session, it’s taking a moment to breathe. It’s the space to settle for a moment before I go again.

I first read about this kanji, 間 / ma - and the concept it represents - a few years ago. I forget where I read it, but it was most likely in one of ’s books or articles. This kanji is made up of two components, one meaning “gate or “door”, the other meaning “sun” or “light”. I understand this to mean that when we create a pause, when we create space, we create a gateway for the light to flow in.

Ma 間 is the liminal space and an acknowledgement of the illumination that shines through once we pause and allow space. That illumination for me is sometimes…

A glimpse at a Reiki session with me,

🙏🏻What to expect….

After we have completed paperwork and the session has been explained fully to you, we always have a chat to check in with how you are feeling today. It’s a chance for you to voice your intentions; to be heard.

At every point during the session, your autonomy is respected, your consent sought and your comfort paramount.

✨Arriving : Once you are comfortably settled (generally on the couch), fully clothed and with cosy blankets for comfort, I lead you through a gentle, grounding guided meditation. So that you can fully relax and arrive in the moment.

🌀Reiki : I work intuitively, both hands on and hands off, guided by the flow of energy. Supporting you to find rest, restoration and balance.

My role is not to fix you — but to witness you, honour your process, and hold a steady, compassionate field while your own intelligence does the healing.

✨What’s it like? : Most people feel waves of warmth, deep relaxation, tingling, an emotional release and a combination of all of those things! Some drift into a dream-like state, some fall into a deep, restful sleep. Whatever arises is welcome.

☀️ Aftercare : After your session, you’ll receive gentle aftercare suggestions that support your integration — always led by your autonomy and your rhythm.

Reiki 1 Shoden Course �
Saturday 11th & Sunday 12th April 2026
9am-4:30pm on both days

This accredited REIKI 1 course is designed to immerse you in two days of highly personalised learning and healing, in a small group.

The course equips students with the knowledge and practical skills to get started on incorporating Reiki into their day-to-day lives, to perform self-treatment and to perform treatments on friends, family and pets.

Attunement and training in both Western and traditional Japanese lineages of Usui Reiki.

A beautifully meditative and therapeutic two days in the village of Alvechurch, Worcestershire.

Ongoing support and community.

No prior knowledge or experience necessary.

This course is a fully accredited module that can count towards the Alvechurch Reiki PROFESSIONAL REIKI PRACTITIONER DIPLOMA. Approved and accredited by the UK Reiki Federation, all aspects of the course follow the Core Curriculum for Reiki in detail and strictly follow the guidelines for training by National Occupational Standards in the UK.

Here are a few stats - I haven’t worked out how many Reiki sessions it has been this year. Suffice it to say: it’s a lot! Lots of new clients and lots of returning clients. Many, many students embarking and continuing on their training.

I treasure every single engagement this year.

I’m taking a break and will be back on the 7th January 2026.
