Funeral Director Steve Begbie-Dilks and health psychologist Mirielle Herbert Hayden, who runs our end-of-life seminars represented us at the Forest Green Rovers Football Club Partners event. We are proud to be engaging with the FGR community and fanbase.
They were able to catch up with Chairman Dale Vince and Manager Robbie Savage. Great discussions on football and green issues, including environmentally friendly burials.

We will remember them.

Despite the torrential rain and stormy skies, the Glimmer of Light gathering on Sunday was truly moving.

Forty-two people joined us where, alongside Sunflowers Su***de Support, we shared tea, coffee, biscuits and conversation in the Georgian Reception Rooms before coming together in the Chapel for the candlelight service. Each family lit a candle in memory of their loved one lost to su***de.

We’re so grateful to everyone who joined us and to those who supported behind the scenes to make this special evening possible 🌙

The story of Memorial Woodlands

Christopher Baker, our founder and chairman, has always had a love of trees and when his father passed the land at Earthcott Green to him he began to plant trees.

From the age of about thirty, Christopher began to attend funerals and was disappointed by the accepted norm; the clinical, workman-like funeral directors and impersonal, rushed services. He felt that there had to be a better way to mark a death and realised that he would far rather have a gathering in a private space, be interred in a field and have a tree planted over him.

The solution was concieved with the creation of Memorial Woodlands. Here was a provision where trees could be planted to more than one purpose, where friends and family could pay their respects in a personal and private way and where a life could be celebrated and remembered in a service appropriate to the deceased.
