We are honoured to host Glimmer of Light 2025, the flagship event from local charity Sunflowers Su***de Support, here at Bristol Memorial Woodlands this weekend on Sunday 14 September 🌿✨

Held each year to mark World Su***de Prevention Day, Glimmer of Light offers families affected by su***de a space to come together, reflect, and remember loved ones in a serene and supportive environment.

After the heartfelt gathering of last year, we look forward to once again welcoming our community into the peaceful surroundings of the Woodlands.

The Life Church Football team is looking forward to its new season, proudly wearing their new kit supplied by Bristol Memorial Woodlands.

The team trains on Thursday evenings at the GFA Almondsbury grounds from 7pm-8.30pm and plays competitive football every Saturday morning in the Bristol Churches Association League. New players are always welcome!

Today we mark the 80th anniversary of VJ Day. Rebecca laid a wreath at our memorial stone to honour those who served and sacrificed in the Far East during the Second World War.

Today we remember the courage, resilience, and loss endured as the Second World War came to its final end in 1945.

As the King said in today's broadcast "they shall never be forgotten".

There’s something truly special about spending time in nature on a warm summer’s day and our visitors often tell us how much they appreciate the peace and beauty of the woodlands at this time of year.

Throughout August, our grounds are open daily from 7.30am to 7.30pm, offering the perfect setting for a gentle stroll through our meadows and trees.

This weekend, join a gentle, supportive walk in nature designed for anyone affected by su***de. Led by trained volunteers, the Storms Walk offers a peaceful space for reflection, connection, and healing at Bristol Memorial Woodlands.

The pace is gentle and the setting in nature reflects the grounding, healing power of the outdoors.

Fantastic local photographer Neil Philips recently spent half a day at the woodlands and captured some beautiful images of the flowers blooming in the sunshine. It’s a lovely time of year to visit if you haven’t before – we're open to the public daily.

Veterans, those serving in our Armed Forces, those who serve in our Emergency Services who provide day to day security and safety, and those whose ongoing support in a variety of roles is valued and vital were represented at Bristol Memorial Woodlands.

Around 200 attended the Annual Service of Remembrance in the chapel followed by an act of remembrance at the Memorial Stone. Organisations from across the region laid wreaths, including schools, military organisations and regiments and veteran representatives.
