What is better on a rainy afternoon than a batch of baking, stocking up on healthier foods for the week.

I made granola, protein balls, cookies and an omega seed mix bread.

All to help me make healthier choices during a busy week.

Let me know if you would like any of the recipes.

Chamomile tea isn’t just for relaxation;
its anti-inflammatory effects can help lower stomach acid levels and promote healing of the gut lining, providing relief from heartburn.

Enjoy a cup after meals to soothe your digestive tract.

I have not been to the gym for nearly 2 weeks, but I was back there today.

Resistance training is important for metabolic health, it improves insulin resistance, helps to keep your bones strong, supports your cognition and can boost your mood.

I aim to go three times a week as a minimum, even going for 20 minutes is worth it as it helps to build consistency, it helps to build a habit.

I would recommend starting resistance training for all the reasons above plus it makes you feel good too.

Try a dose of lifestyle medicine and feel the benefits - you could try these different steps:

- go to bed 1/2 hour earlier
- drink an extra glass of water
- add more herbs and spices to your meals
- walk for 10 minutes after eating
- start resistance training
- enjoy a relaxing bath for some self-care
- include more veggies

Small, easy steps are the best way to go.

Try doing One Step a Week for 12 weeks.

The main active compound in turmeric is curcumin, the health benfits of which include:

- it may help to reduce inflammation
- it may help to protect you from oxidative stress by neutralising the free radicals which can cause it
- it may help with the development of new brain cells
- it may help to support your heart health
- it may help to relieve the pain from arthritis

Help your body absorb the curcumin by including some fat and black pepper in the meal.

Try a turmeric latte, a turmeric tea, or add to your soups, casseroles - or add to your porridge perhaps.

Personally I do love a turmeric latte, especially on these chilly days - have you tried one?
Let me know in the comments.

What is your fav veg?

Tender stem is a winner in our house, which is a great plan as it has many health benefits.

It is a source of vitamins and minerals, plus fibre - many people are not eating enough fibre.

It is a cruciferous veg which will support your liver with detoxification.

Sulforaphane is phytonutrient in broccoli which is anti-inflammatory, an antioxidant and it may support heart health .

However, to release the sulforaphane the broccoli must be cut, chopped or chewed.

Do you eat broccoli each week - adding it to your weekly shop would be an easy step in your health journey.

I enjoyed my day of learning with .

Did you know that your brain consumes around 20% of the calories you eat and the oxygen you breathe.

Your brain likes habits because they require less brain power to do - this is why making changes is not always so easy and we like to stay in our comfort zone.

One Step a Week can help as making small, manageable changes is the way to have sustainable new habits.

Your mind is for processing, how you think, feel & choose, it is made up with your experiences and will be constantly changing.

To make changes we may have to work on our mind as well to change the stories we have told ourselves about past experiences, as these can be holding us back.

Do you think how the foods you eat can be nourishing your brain and mind?

What did you do for you today?

I am lucky to have a local waterfall to walk to, it’s one of my favourite places - the air feels clean, the sound of the water, and the dogs love it too.

Breathing in the fresh air at Stockghyll Force always helps me to feel good.

Do you have a similar place to visit?

Why did I start to resistance training?

- to help with my blood sugar control and improve my insulin sensitivity, which unfortunately is not as good as I would like.

- improve my muscle and joint strength to reduce the risk of falling as I get older.

- reduce my risk of osteoporosis.

- I really enjoy it and it makes me feel good 💪💪💪.

- I had 20 weeks of personal training so that I know what I am doing.

Have you started resistance training too?
