Yesterday was my inaugural group reiki course and well, I can say that I just love teaching reiki!

When I walked into Charlotte's newly opened yoga studio last year, I knew it would be where I would teach reiki. She has created a truly special space in Amersham 🙏

I love my grey hair. I get so many compliments on it, many from men, and also hairdressers who want to know who did my hair. I tell them "nature".

I started going grey in my mid-twenties, and about ten years ago, I decided to drop the dye. Not because I was making a stance to age gracefully and rebuff societal beauty standards, but because I just could not be arsed with the process anymore! The time and cost involved was a huge inefficiency in my life, not to mention the chemical toxins entering my scalp.

Yesterday, I was reading a passage in a book which said that white hair carries more spiritual light and increases the person's affinity with the spirit world. I'm not sure about that, but it's definitely increased my affinity with me. Indigenous and Eastern cultures view hair as an antenna and an extension of the individual's spiritual and energy bodies. There's a reason why military and prisons shave off hair and extreme communist regimes regulate haircuts.

I often say to friends who worry about their grey hairs, embrace it! (along with the correct shampoo). It may feel like a risky move, but it's a liberating one and people do like it.

Whilst feeling the urge to clarify the reiki & certification topic, a memory of a 17 year old me kept arising. Me at a university open day - the university I would end up choosing and eventually attending.

On the journey there, 'Paperback Writer' by the Beatles was randomly looping in my head, and when I entered the hallowed union bar later that day, guess which song greeted me? Yep (and I don't even like the Beatles!). That sealed it for me.

I chose that academic path, not because of accolade and ranking and all that blah, but because of a little annoying song and a feeling I felt.

I think in youth, we are much more led by the feeling body, of serendipity vs the mind and rationale. As we get older and enter the cogs of life and work and doing, that innate love-fuelled sense which is designed to move us, becomes diminished. It's replaced with mind-related accoutrements.

So, I totally understand why the first question people ask me is about certificates.

But, what reiki brings and gifts you with is much greater than a piece of paper; a reconnection back to that love & feeling self. The kind of sense that allows us to embrace ourselves and spirit and our path more truthfully.

Sharing my little story of how Reiki came into my life. When I speak about Reiki, people often tell me how they feel a sense of warmth from their hands when they hug or care for someone, or when meditating. This is our innate capability to connect to a source of healing energy.

We are in changing times and I personally believe that the spiritual and energetical realms of life will become more important to accept and work with.

🎵 I mention chakras in this post, but the chakra system is not, strictly speaking, part of the original Reiki teachings. Reiki originates from Japan and the chakras from India. I am of Indian heritage and hence my ancestral roots are connected to this system, so I have mentioned them here and I will cover them in my Reiki level one teaching.

This is my friend JJ of and she makes the best kimchi in town and beyond. JJ uses love + sea salt that is gathered near the South Korean island she grew up on. When she tells me stories about her childhood island life, I'm instantly transported to Studio Ghibli style spirit-scapes. She also makes wild garlic pesto with wild garlic foraged locally in the Chilterns.

A little plug for her on my insta because I'm happy to support women who are running businesses, running peri-hormones, their teen's hormones, endless parentmail, ageing parents with health needs / digital banking needs / state of the world bewilderment needs... (delete as appropriate).

It's not easy holding it all. And yes, I had to max filter this photo because I look so tired 🤫

A beautiful thing about learning Reiki is that it is something you have for life, to use on yourself, in your sovereignty. You don't have to always outsource to another. Only to the divine.

I have a friend who is a great source of detail on geopolitical goings on. We meet every few months and talk about what's going on in the world. We try to bring in the wider perspective: the necessary shifts being called for human evolution and ascension and how we see the esoteric playing through things.

We always conclude that our connection to Spirit, to God, to the Divine, to our life force, will have to become stronger. This is the task.

For me Reiki was a portal to enter that part of myself; the Spirit self. That journey is ever evolving and I'm ever learning.

Sharing such a beautiful expression of what reiki felt like and shifted for my client.

In my sessions I take the time to listen. I invite you to express as much as you desire. That way, reiki can hear and move into the spaces that need to be cleared. Spirit, guides and ancestors may help along the way.

And the love felt is the love that you are. Reiki is the reminder.
