As yoga teachers, we witness how deeply yoga can touch people’s lives — body, mind, and spirit.
We support students through their ups and downs, but imagine being able to do that even more profoundly… to help them navigate health challenges, emotional struggles, and life transitions with the wisdom of yoga.
That’s where Yoga Therapy comes in.
It’s where teaching becomes truly transformational — blending yoga philosophy, therapeutic insight, and personalised practice to create meaningful change.
Training to be a Yoga Therapist is part professional development and part a personal journey of growth, understanding, and empowerment.
✨ If you’ve ever wondered how yoga can become a tool for healing and transformation, this is your invitation to explore.

Autumn in Ayurveda is the vata season with elements of air and space and the qualities of coolness, lightness, dryness, movement, mobility of all kinds including windy weather and unpredictability.
Many of us will notice these changes and feel the balance of vata shift within our own constitutional nature; feeling the cold, skin feeling drier, feeling a little sad at the change of season and change of light, feeling unsettled or anxious, which is characteristic of vata when out of balance.

aYs Convention - Yoga for Transformation

Guest speaker Gary Kraftsow offered new topics for thought, practices where the depth of practice was tangible in the room and presentations with interest with humour.

Workshops were interesting around prana, health and meanings on deities (this could have been a sub-theme for the weekend).

Morning practices offered variety and shared practices.

The sangha was brilliant and felt like coming home to a wide family.

Time to reflect and sit in the glow of a very special weekend.

Health is complex so we use a variety of means to understand how someone is and tailor the yoga practices to their needs and abilities.

📖 Effectiveness of Yoga on Depression and Anxiety in People with Chronic Primary Pain: A Meta-Analysis of Randomized Controlled Trials

A meta-analysis of six trials involving 382 participants found that yoga reduced depression, anxiety, and pain while improving quality of life for people with chronic primary pain, with no major adverse effects reported. Although the overall evidence quality ranged from low to very low, findings suggest that yoga may be a valuable nonpharmacological approach to support both physical and emotional well-being alongside standard medical care.

Stress and Yoga: Why Undoing Stress Takes Time
Fast stress responses ensure survival, while slower relaxation supports long-term health and repair but only once safety is re-established.
In modern life, where psychological stress often persists, this system can remain chronically activated.

Understanding this difference explains why deliberate practices such as slow breathing, yoga, and meditation are needed to consciously activate the body’s slower, restorative pathways.
