We are incredibly proud of our audiologist Hollie, who will be running a half marathon this October in support of the Alzheimer’s Society 🧠💙
At Aston Hearing, we’re continually learning more about the important link between hearing loss and brain health. Research shows that untreated hearing loss is one of the largest modifiable risk factors for dementia, including Alzheimer’s disease.
There are several reasons for this connection. When hearing is reduced, the brain has to work harder to process sounds, which can take resources away from memory and thinking. People with hearing loss may also become less socially active, and social isolation is another known risk factor for cognitive decline. Over time, reduced stimulation of the hearing centres in the brain may also contribute to changes in brain structure and function.
This is why early identification and management of hearing loss is so important not just for communication, but for overall cognitive health and wellbeing.
We are proud to support the incredible work of Alzheimer’s Society in raising awareness, funding research, and supporting those affected by dementia and we are right behind Hollie as she takes on this challenge.
If you would like to support Hollie and this fantastic cause, any donation would be greatly appreciated:
