What a lovely way to start the week 💙

Reading reviews like this reminds us exactly why we do what we do. Helping someone reconnect with the sounds of everyday life from family conversations to simply hearing the car engine again is something we never take for granted.

A huge thank you to our wonderful client for taking the time to share such kind words about our Amersham team ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Here’s to a positive Monday and another week of helping people hear better with confidence.

It's Deaf Awareness Week 2026 | Right to understand - Together we break barriers

This week highlights the importance of accessible and inclusive communication for those in the deaf and hearing loss community, and raising awareness towards how we can break down barriers to ensure everyone feels connected.

A few, thoughtful changes in how you communicate with someone can make such a big difference. Here are just a few simple tips:

- Use simple gestures like waving to get attention
- Be sure to face each other when talking - many individuals rely on lipreading to help understand what you’re saying.
- Don’t be afraid to repeat or rephrase when you’re talking or try something different.

Let's make communication easier and more accessible - not just this week, but every day 💙

We are incredibly proud of our audiologist Hollie, who will be running a half marathon this October in support of the Alzheimer’s Society 🧠💙

At Aston Hearing, we’re continually learning more about the important link between hearing loss and brain health. Research shows that untreated hearing loss is one of the largest modifiable risk factors for dementia, including Alzheimer’s disease.

There are several reasons for this connection. When hearing is reduced, the brain has to work harder to process sounds, which can take resources away from memory and thinking. People with hearing loss may also become less socially active, and social isolation is another known risk factor for cognitive decline. Over time, reduced stimulation of the hearing centres in the brain may also contribute to changes in brain structure and function.

This is why early identification and management of hearing loss is so important not just for communication, but for overall cognitive health and wellbeing.

We are proud to support the incredible work of Alzheimer’s Society in raising awareness, funding research, and supporting those affected by dementia and we are right behind Hollie as she takes on this challenge.

If you would like to support Hollie and this fantastic cause, any donation would be greatly appreciated:

Good luck, Hollie we are all behind you! 💙

Last week, we had the pleasure of popping in to a busy volunteer morning at Hearing Dogs for Deaf People, where we met so many wonderful and dedicated individuals 👏

Our recent “Name the Polar Bear” competition was a fun and creative way to raise funds, and we were delighted to present the money raised to support the incredible work they do 🐻‍❄️💙

We’re especially proud to be based on the same site as Hearing Dogs for Deaf People at our Princes Risborough clinic.

Thank you to everyone who took part and supported this initiative. We look forward to running many more like it in the future!

A huge thank you to aAbbeyfield Living SocietyPratt House for welcoming the Aston Hearing team last week for our pop-up hearing event! 💛

It was fantastic to spend time with both residents and staff, carrying out hearing checks and hosting a hands-on hearing aid workshop. We were so impressed by how engaged and enthusiastic the team were, asking great questions and really wanting to build their knowledge so they can better support their residents every day.

Our golden moment? Getting a resident’s hearing aid working again! Moments like that are a powerful reminder of just how life-changing good hearing care can be. ✨

We were so inspired by the team’s dedication that we have invited them to spend a day with us in one of our clinics. We’d love the opportunity to help them gain even more confidence and understanding when it comes to supporting residents with their hearing.

We’re already looking forward to our next visit! 👂💬
