Are baristas better trained than dementia care staff? 🤔
According to new research from the Alzheimer’s Society, dementia training across the sector is still falling short.
With around 1 million people living with dementia in the UK (rising to 1.4 million by 2040), skilled, confident care has never been more important.

Yet:
• 50% of training is just 1–2 hours
• Only 39% meets recommended standards
• Over half of staff start with no dementia training
• 81% of carers want more

At Ashridge, we’re proud to do things differently. With our dedicated in-house trainer, Susie, we ensure our carers have the tools they need to provide the very best support. It doesn’t stop with our team — we also support families and the wider community through:
✅ Dementia support workshops delivered by experienced dementia specialists
✅ Dementia Friends sessions led by trained Dementia Friends Ambassadors
✅ Our monthly Memory Cafés, supported by a trained volunteer team

💙 Happy National Superhero Day! 💙

Today, we’re celebrating the real superheroes in our community — our incredible carers.😊

Every day, they show up with kindness, patience, and dedication… supporting, empowering, and making a genuine difference to the lives of those they care for.

It’s not about capes or superpowers — it’s about the small, meaningful moments:
a reassuring word, a helping hand, a familiar smile.
To our amazing team — thank you for everything you do. 👋🙏

Young carers don’t always get the space to share what they’re going through. We need to listen to their struggles, understand what support they need, and recognise what needs to change — not just for them, but for the loved ones they care for every day. Raising awareness is the first step - thank you Carers Bucks for sharing Ben’s story.💙

Behind every person receiving care, there’s often a family member quietly giving their time, energy, and love—day in, day out.💙

We witness the dedication of family carers every day—and we understand the pressures that come with it. That’s why at Ashridge, our care extends beyond our clients to the people who support them:

✔️Offering flexible care that gives carers time to rest and recharge
✔️Providing guidance and reassurance when things feel uncertain
✔️Being a trusted partner families can rely on
✔️Helping create continuity, so no one feels like they’re doing it alone

Because caring for someone shouldn’t mean losing yourself in the process.
If you’re supporting a loved one and need a bit of extra help, we’re here to listen.😊

MS is unpredictable and affects everyone differently. 🎗️

But living with MS doesn’t have to mean giving up the life you enjoy — for you or someone close to you.

With the right support, it’s still possible to live well, stay independent, and continue the routines that matter most.

At Ashridge, we offer responsive, flexible support that adapts as your needs change. Whether it’s short-term help, ongoing care, or something in between — we’re here when you need us, with no long-term commitments.

Our experienced team works alongside multi-disciplinary professionals to ensure care is joined-up, consistent, and tailored around you. A dedicated Care Manager will guide you through a needs assessment and create a personalised care plan — only finalised when everyone feels confident and comfortable.

Residential care or live-in care… which is the right choice?

Choosing care, whether for yourself or a loved one, is never easy.
And when the moment comes, it rarely comes with time, clarity, or a plan — it comes with pressure.

So the question becomes urgent: what do we do next?

🏡 Live-in care means staying at home — with one-to-one support, familiar routines, and care built entirely around the individual.
🏢 Residential care offers a shared environment, with structure and on-site support.

Both can be the right choice.
But this isn’t just about care — it’s about how someone wants to live.

💡 What we see every day:
Decisions are often made in difficult moments, when options feel limited and time is short.

And that’s when care homes can become the default — not always because they’re the best fit, but because they’re the most visible or immediately available. With pressure to decide quickly and expectations often set too low, many families end up accepting the first option that feels “good enough.”

We often hear the same thing from families:
“We didn’t realise there were other options.”

📊 The reality is:
– According to the Live-in Care Hub’s Better at Home report, 97% of people would prefer to stay in their own home as they get older
- 60% of family members we speak to find themselves rushed into making care decisions
– 53% of over 75s have never discussed who will care for them later in life
– 59% haven’t shared their preferences for end-of-life care

We believe care decisions should never feel rushed — we’re here to guide, inform, and support families to make the right choice for them. 💙

Great start to the 2026 Farmers’ Market season in Princes Risborough this weekend. Always a pleasure to be part of such a welcoming community and to have some really good conversations with local people about staying at home with the right support in place.💙
Congratulations to the winner of the ‘guess the number of the Aston Martin’ — and thank you to the Rotary Club of Princes Risborough team for organising. £457 raised will go towards local projects in the PR area! 😊
