Fabulous day out on the Kennet & Avon canal. The residents loved the barge, negotiating locks and lunch on the water, not to mention the beautiful scenery and wildlife trhoughout. Thanks to the brilliant Bruce Boats who make everything so seamless. We were so lucky we escaped the rain too. What a wonderful experience.

Looking forward to the next Richmond Arts Society lecture on the 2nd September, 7.30pm - E H Shepard : His Story from the First World War to the Winnie-the-Pooh illustrations.

Lecturer, James Campbell, has been a Trustee of the E H Shepard Estate since 2010 and was involved in the ground-breaking 2017 Victoria and Albert Museum Exhibition marking the 90th birthday of Winnie-the-Pooh.

James will be examining E H Shepard's artistic journey through the First World War from jocular cartoons in Punch to dark and impactful images of death and destruction on the western front, and how his own artistic style and approach changed and was influenced by the conflict. The lecture will show a range of cartoons, drawings, watercolours, annotated maps and guides for the Intelligence Corps, as well as commercial work for the home market. We will see the transition towards the simple economy of line and expression which is exemplified by the Winnie-the-Pooh illustrations which were started shortly after the end of the War.

Not to be missed! Please speak to the nursing home Activities Teams, or the Independent Living Managers for timings of in house showings and / or the free link to watch from the comfort of your home.

Sutton Manor residents enjoyed a spot of the good life with a trip to the allotment. A lovely afternoon outside and a chance to reminisce about gardens they have known and loved. We very much enjoyed seeing the variety of flowers and produce being grown and discussed hints and tips for success 💚

Sutton Manor were delighted to play host to the Mill Cottage Farm yesterday. They brought the whole ark- sheep, goats, donkeys, chickens, tortoises, ducks, guines pigs, a dog, geese and baby chicks! Residents, families (and staff too) spent the afternoon in the shade enjoying the animals with cool drinks and ice creams to hand. An incredibly therapeutic and relaxing experience and a really great turnout. Thanks, as ever, to Jo for organising :-)

Great trip to Bucklers Hard last week. As you can see the residents just loved being out and about by the water. Such a happy, relaxing day, taking in the scenery, exploring the museum cottages and checking out the live archaeological dig. Wonderful! Thanks to Nona for organising :-)

Residents of Amesbury Abbey enjoyed an afternoon reliving favourite memories of living, working and holidaying Spain. Nona gave a great presentation on Spanish culture and the kitchen provided some classic tasting dishes including tapas and a perfect paella, all washed down with some delicious Sangria. Viva la Vida!

Amesbury Abbey celebrated some sensational service last week, marking Lorraine Brown's 25 years working for the Group!! Starting as a Carer when she arrived Lorraine is now be the friendly face who greets you on Reception when you first arrive at Amesbury Abbey. Staff gathered together to make the occasion and to wish another member of the team, our lovely Dara, the best of luck in her new role. Flowers and cakes all round. Don't worry - Lorraine's not going anywhere! :-)

Woonderful still life art project yesterday at Sutton Manor with one of our residents, a very talented artist, showing us all how it's done. Everyone passing couldn't help but be drawn in. Such a rewarding excercise which the resident thoroughly enjoyed and benefitted from, as did we!
