Physical and mental health are together.
Do not be scared of anything, this will affect your health, your immune system, your cardiovascular system, etc. and you will be vulnerable to any virus, bacteria, germ, microbe, etc.
Physical and mental health are together.
Whatever effect one will affect the other.
The physical results of negative stress will affect our mental and physical health, this is a fact.
These are fundamental principles in fields like psychosomatic medicine, health psychology, and psychoneuroimmunology (PNI).
This connection is supported by thousands of research papers spanning decades across multiple scientific disciplines, and it would be impossible to list every single study here, but there are key scientific concepts:
Physical to Mental: Chronic physical illnesses (like diabetes, heart disease, or cancer) significantly increase the risk of mental health conditions, particularly depression and anxiety, and vice versa.
Mental to Physical: Conditions like depression are now understood to be risk factors for developing cardiovascular disease and increasing inflammation.
The Gut-Brain Axis: Research shows that the gut microbiome (physical) influences mood, cognition, and mental health. Conversely, stress (mental) can dramatically alter gut function (physical).
Inflammation: Psychological distress (mental) activates inflammatory pathways (physical) that are implicated in everything from heart disease to neurodegenerative disorders.
Do not be scared of anything, but if you are, pray, there is this wonderful and true promise from our Creator:
"The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?
When the wicked, even mine enemies and my foes, came upon me to eat up my flesh, they stumbled and fell.
Though an host should encamp against me, my heart shall not fear: though war should rise against me, in this will I be confident.
For in the time of trouble he shall hide me in his pavilion: in the secret of his tabernacle shall he hide me; he shall set me up upon a rock."
Psalms 27
