🍴 Professional Care Workers Week Spotlight – Chawley Grove Care Home Kitchen Team 🍴

This week we’re shining a light on the incredible teams who make our homes so special – and today, it’s all about our Kitchen Team at Chawley Grove.

Led by Head Chef Steve, alongside Lloyd, Shibu, Kim and Georgiana, the team go above and beyond every day. From hearty homecooked meals and freshly baked treats in the bistro, to birthday cakes and resident cookery classes, they always bring passion, creativity and care to everything they do.

The quality and variety of their food is second to none – and they make mealtimes more than just a service, they make them an experience. If you’ve ever tried the chef’s famous sticky toffee pudding, you’ll know exactly what we mean!

Often working behind the scenes, the Kitchen Team don’t always get the recognition they deserve – so today we’re celebrating them for the huge role they play in creating joy, comfort, and togetherness at Chawley Grove. 💙

🌍 This , we’re proud to celebrate Hermione, one of our dedicated Dementia Champions at Montague House Care Home

✨ Hermione shares:

“As a Dementia Champion, I support staff in a variety of meaningful ways. I’ve been doing one-to-one sessions, offering guidance on communication, personal care techniques, and sharing different approaches to support residents living with dementia. I also review guidelines with staff to help them build a deeper understanding of dementia care.

We have a dedicated dementia area in our bistro, complete with books for relatives and a folder outlining the dementia strategy, including my role as a point of contact for families seeking support. I’ve also created a QR code linking to the Alzheimer’s Society, giving relatives easy access to information and resources.

Recently, a local visitor who plays music for residents wanted to learn more about dementia and suitable courses. With support from David, I helped her find appropriate courses, and she has since started and is really enjoying her learning journey.”

💜 Hermione’s dedication to staff training, resident support, and engaging the wider community demonstrates the real impact Dementia Champions have at Montague House, ensuring residents and families feel informed, supported, and valued.

Thank you, Hermione, for all that you do. 💫

"Our mum came to live at Meryton Place Care Home in August 2024. At first, she was apprehensive and didn't settle too well, but she was suffering from dementia and had been in the same home looking after herself for 58 years. so it was a huge adjustment for her. The staff from all the departments made her feel as welcome and as loved and cared for as they could and she soon seemed to settle. She made friends with some of the other ladies on her floor and it was lovely to see them all sat together at mealtimes and partake in the numerous activities"
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

💜 Thank you to Bridget M, daughter of a resident, for sharing this touching review.

At Hamberley Care Homes, we are dedicated to supporting residents living with dementia with dignity, compassion, and truly person-centred care.

A huge well done to the Meryton Place team for the exceptional care, kindness, and comfort they provide to residents and families.
