Acknowledgement:

The family of the late Elizabeth (Lizzy) O’Hagan wish to express our heartfelt thanks and sincere gratitude to everyone who supported our much-loved mother throughout her illness, from May 2024 until her peaceful passing on St Patrick’s Day 2026.

We are deeply grateful to the many healthcare professionals who cared for mummy with such compassion, dignity, and kindness. In particular, we thank the team at Belfast Cancer Centre, especially Dr Ursula McGivern, Dr Elizabeth Baird, and Karen Armstrong, for not only their expertise but for the gentle and reassuring way they spoke to mummy and supported her throughout. We also acknowledge the staff at Omagh Hospital for their care during her weekly treatments, and the Palliative Care Team, especially Prof Max Watson, Sister Thelma Graham, and all their team, whose dedication meant so much to us. You made the ward feel like home and ensured mummy was comfortable and at peace in her final days. We feel truly blessed to have such a wonderful facility so close to us. Our sincere thanks also to the staff of South West Acute Hospital and Altnagelvin Area Hospital for their care during mummy’s two brief hospital admissions.

A special word of thanks to John, Fiona and previously Una in Cassidy’s Chemist for their continued help throughout mummy’s journey, and to Dr Spiers and Dr McGartland at Fintona Medical Centre for their care towards the end of her illness.

We are forever grateful to mummy’s sisters, Ann McManus (and her daughters Nailin and Áine), and Catherine Monaghan, along with her dear friend Brenda Devlin, for their care and for the many journeys made to Belfast for treatments. Despite the reason for the trips, those were good days together and usually ended with mummy shopping somewhere. Your time and devotion will never be forgotten.

To our wonderful neighbours, friends, and extended family, we offer our heartfelt thanks for your constant kindness. Whether you visited mummy, prepared meals for daddy, sent Mass cards, flowers, thoughtful gifts, or tokens of faith from near and far, each gesture brought her comfort and strength. Our fireplace was filled with kindness, holding over 200 cards at one stage - a true reflection of the love and respect for mummy. A special mention to her closest neighbours Bernie, Gerry, Sheila, and Kathleen for their quiet acts of generosity throughout her life and illness.

We also wish to thank mummy’s close circle of friends - Brenda Devlin, Marie McNally, Nancy Gallagher, and Bridie Marlow - along with her brothers (Michael and Eamon Mimnagh), sisters, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, and all who called regularly, bringing companionship, laughter, and comfort.

We are deeply thankful to those who provided spiritual support and guidance. We thank Fr Kevin McElhennon (hospital chaplain) and Fr McGahan for his pastoral care, visits, prayers, and for celebrating such a beautiful and meaningful Requiem Mass.

We extend our sincere thanks to the undertakers Joe Marlow and Dominic Muldoon for their professionalism, care, and the dignity shown to mummy and our family throughout the funeral arrangements. We also thank Brendan McKenna for preparing mummy’s final resting place.

We are deeply grateful to everyone who attended the wake and funeral, who brought Mass cards, sent messages of sympathy, and shared treasured memories of mummy. Your presence and support brought us great comfort.

A special word of thanks to Micky McGoldrick, Dan McCartan, Gary McGillion, and all those who helped with parking, ensuring everything ran smoothly, and to the wonderful ladies who worked tirelessly in the kitchen - your warmth and generosity never went unnoticed. We also thank Maeve McKenna and her team for the beautiful funeral dinner.

We wish to thank all the local businesses who kindly provided food for the family - your generosity was greatly appreciated.

We extend our appreciation to all those who formed Guards of Honour at mummy’s funeral: O’Hagan Steel Services, St McCartan Ladies, St Patrick’s Primary School (Eskra), St Colmcille’s Primary School (Carrickmore), Bishop Kelly Boxing Club, Knockmany Running Club, Omagh Triathlon Club, Mothers & Others, and Eskra GFC. Your presence was a touching tribute to mummy’s life and legacy.

Our thanks also to Louise Coyle, Pauric Mohan, and Damian Cullen for the uplifting and heartfelt music that enriched the funeral liturgy. We also acknowledge all who participated in the Mass, including our children and the Eucharistic Ministers, whose contributions made the service so special.

As it would be impossible to thank everyone individually, please accept this acknowledgment as a token of our sincere appreciation.

Lizzy’s Month’s Mind Mass will be celebrated on Friday 17th April at 7pm in St Patrick’s Church, Eskra.

May she rest in eternal peace.
