I don't have dedicated tools primarily for jewellery repair work, however if I can repair and restore a sentimental piece with the tools I do have, then I'll give it a shot !

Initially the plan was to re-tip the end claws on a 3 stone diamond ring, however the item was delicate, and stones were 1mm each, so I decided to lower the under bezel a fraction to drop the diamonds lower in the setting, which exposes more claw height to be able to reset the diamonds more securely, with a polish to finish. 💎

Sterling silver memorial ashes pendant recently finished for our customer, to be reunited once again with her parents memory.

Based on a gem set pendant we made a few years ago, with a tapered fixed bail, pear shape setting and back plate to retain the blue resin, which is over poured to create a domed surface, just like a cabochon gemstone.

Our customer has seen the jewellery images and hope she is just as delighted when it's being worn !

The final commission of 2025 was collected a few weeks ago and was great once again to work with a customer who appreciates the individuality, technical knowledge and substance / weight of each piece created at Marc Johnson - Jeweller.

I love what I do, and enjoy creating metalwork that is influenced by customers design ideas, bringing them to fruition with my style of jewellery making, giving the customer a quality, bespoke item that is substantial enough to last a lifetime.

2025 has seen 925 Silver as the dominant precious metal, due to market conditions, affordability and value for money, which I'm sure will continue for the foreseeable future.

Customer reactions are priceless when they see their bespoke jewellery for the first time, and our customer this morning was no exception!

We melted and re-modelled existing wedding rings and a couple of dress rings into a solid 'D shape' band ring, whilst utilising 8 x 1pt white diamonds, and 1 x 4pt Diamond, which were grain/bead set to reflect the original style of the diamond setting and retaining the rings sentiment.
