People who quit smoking for 28 days are five times more likely to quit for good.

Ci******es contain to***co, which is an addictive substance, along with thousands of other chemicals, causing harm to you and those around you who breathe in second-hand smoke. When you quit smoking, the health benefits are almost immediate:

After 20 minutes, your pulse rate will be returning to normal.
After 8 hours your oxygen levels are recovering, and the harmful carbon monoxide level in your blood will have reduced by half.
After 3-9 months any coughs, wheezing or breathing problems will be improving as your lung function increases by up to 10%.
After 1 year your risk of heart attack will have halved compared with a smoker's.

Unfortunately DNA appointments went up in September. Please cancel your appointment if you no longer require, to see a GP or Nurse.

A big thank you to all our patients who cancelled appointments they no longer required. Opening up appointments, which can help another patient see a GP or Nurse earlier.

Let’s try and reduce the number of wasted appointments further in October.

There are several convenient ways to cancel your appointment, phoning the surgery on 01264 361424, cancelling online via the NHS App, or by replying CANCEL to your reminder SMS.

We request, if you no longer require your pre-booked appointment, please let us know so we can offer it to another patient.

We are looking for new representatives.

All registered patients over 16 years old are welcome to be involved in the Patient Participation Group.

Ideally, we would like to have a cross section of patients joining our group. This would enable us to have a true representation of our patient’s views.

We will work together with mutual respect, openness, and trust. Your views are important and will be listened to.

If you are interested in learning more about our Patient Participation Group, receiving occasional emails, surveys, please complete the online form.

Alternatively, you can ask us about it when you next visit the practice.

Please Note
PPG is not a forum to raise individual complaints or seek medical advice.

Today is World Patient Safety Day.

NHS has introduced Martha's Rule to help detect signs of deterioration early — and it applies to patients of all ages.

For parents with children in hospital, you know your child better than anyone and may notice small changes before the care team does. Please tell your care team if your child:
• has a high temperature — sweating, shivering or feeling hotter or colder than usual when you touch them
• has a different cry to normal
• has any changes to their skin, for example they are pale or have a rash or sores or blisters
• is unusually sleepy or hard to wake
• is irritable or restless
• is not interested in feeding, drinking or eating
• is breathing faster than normal, grunting with each breath or wheezing
• is peeing much less or has blood in their poo

Speak up about anything that worries you — it could help prevent more serious health problems. If you're still concerned, Martha's Rule gives you the right to request a rapid review.
