Firefighters are urging people to carry out safety checks on electric blankets before using them.
The warning comes after an incident at the weekend where an electric blanket was identified as the cause of a bedroom fire.
Electric blanket safety:
👉Unplug at night, unless they have a thermostat control for safe all-night use
👉Never buy second hand
👉Store it flat or rolled up loosely, never fold
👉Test regularly
👉Turn off and consult a qualified electrician if you have any concerns
