Free to all from the BAS website is the:

Sclerosant Dilution Calculator (free app).

It provides you with a QR code to keep next to your pharmacy cabinet which takes you straight to a web-based APP for sclerosant dilution calculations.

Simply input the initial sclerosant concentration and volume, then input the required sclerosant concentration and the APP calculates the required volume of saline.

No charts, no calculator.

The November issue of our Journal Club is now available!

This month BAS Chairman Alastair Lewies reviews a paper to understand the role of ultrasound guided foam sclerotherapy in treating venous leg ulcers.

The paper: Efficacy of ultrasound-guided foam sclerotherapy in the healing of venous leg ulcers. Bishara RA et al. . J Vasc Surg Venous Lymphat Disord. 2025 Jul;13(4):102244.

This recently published randomised controlled trial investigates the efficacy of ultrasound-guided foam sclerotherapy (UGFS) directed at distal venous reflux in the management of venous leg ulcers (VLUs).

Advancing the standards of VLU care remains central to the mission of the BAS.

We recognise the potential therapeutic value of targeting the sub-ulcer venous plexus as part of a comprehensive management strategy and welcome any new studies that offer further insight to an under investigated treatment modality.

Journal Club is free to BAS members who can access the full paper and our board member's expert review.

Alternatively Journal Club can also be accessed in the BAS Shop.

We've designed Journal Club to be a simple and informative way for you to contribute towards your CPD, estimating that each issue will count as 3 points of self-directed study.

We hope you find the paper and expert review helpful and engaging.
