Meet Daisy! 💕 A gorgeous little French Bulldog who came to us for BOAS surgery following a thorough assessment by Francesca Basterebbe, our resident clinical director who has a keen interest in orthopaedics, endoscopy and soft tissue procedures just like this one. ⭐

🐾But what is BOAS surgery?
BOAS (Brachycephalic Obstructive Airway Syndrome) surgery is a corrective procedure for flat-faced dogs and cats with breathing problems caused by anatomical abnormalities.

🐾What are the benefits?
💨Improved breathing: The primary goal is to unblock the airways and improve the pet's ability to breathe freely - imagine having a permanent cold!
🥱Increased energy: Pets may become more energetic and have greater stamina on walks allowing you to enjoy more active times together.
🌞Better heat regulation: Improved breathing helps the dog control its temperature more effectively, reducing the risk of heat stroke.
😴Reduced snoring: Many dogs experience a significant reduction in snoring after surgery so you and your pet can get a better nights sleep.
💕Improved quality of life: Overall, the surgery aims to enhance the pet's well-being by easing their breathing and reducing respiratory distress.

If you believe your pet would benefit from this procedure, call our amazing reception team today who will assist you in booking a consult with Francesca to assess and discuss the options available to you. 💕🐾💕

Here at Strathmore, we understand the importance of community.
Our staff often go above and beyond, not just in practice but out and about as well🌞🌞
As an example, here are a few photos of the Dog Show that took place as part of Appleshaws annual Fete judged by our wonderful Elle (RVN) and Sophie (Receptionist)!

Congratulations on all the pups who won prizes and to those who took part - you are all incredible! I know it was a very tough choice for the judges on the day but they had a fantastic time 🏆🏆🏆

Thank-you for allowing us to be a part of this wonderful day

We have two wonderful new RVN's who have joined the team! 🎉🎉🎉
Meet Felicity (Fliss!) and Molly 😀

Molly has recently graduated from Sparsholt University and is keen to be starting her career as a registered Veterinary Nurse here at Strathmore - exciting times!
Fliss has been actively nursing for a few years and we are overjoyed to have her as part of the team, especially when she brings in her two golden retriever boys to say hello! 😜
I'm sure you will be seeing them a lot around the practice and in consults going forward 🤩

We will always try our best to help any animal in need, whether domestic 🐶 or wild 🦊. However, sometimes we are unable to take in certain wildlife due to the high risk or disease and current legislations that may be in place.
Currently, avian flu is on the rise again especially among seagulls and we are all aware of the awful TB breakouts farmers are facing of which Badgers are a main carrier 🦡.

But it does not mean help is not out there! So many charitable organisations are here to offer advice and take in the wildlife that needs them most.
And what better time to offer this advice to you than on

Here at Strathmore we love all animals and like to appreciate every individual personality; And the Ginger Tabby certainly has a unique one brighter than it's fur! 🐱🐱

How so? Well, they are known to be:
🐾Affectionate and Friendly: Owners often perceive ginger cats as exceptionally affectionate, sometimes earning them the nickname "Velcro cats" due to their desire for close companionship with humans.
🐾Outgoing and Confident: Many ginger cats are described as having a confident, bold, and adventurous nature.
🐾Energetic and Playful: They are often playful and enjoy engaging in stimulating activities.
🐾Vocal and Chatty: Ginger cats are frequently noted for being talkative and using meows, purrs, and other sounds to communicate.
🐾Spirited and Entertaining: Their lively nature can make them a fun and engaging presence in a household.
