A study tracking 110,000 people over 30 years found that doing a variety of exercises each week can have a huge impact on your health - active people who mixed their workouts were 19% less likely to die than those who stuck to just one activity 💪

That effect was even stronger than doing individual sports like walking, tennis, rowing, or jogging alone.

In January 2025, Hannah walked into a Yoga for Wellbeing session feeling anxious and low in confidence. Today, she's a Community Coordinator at Valley Leisure 💙

What started as one brave step into a class became a life-changing journey - from participant... to volunteer... to paid member of staff making a real difference everyday.

Her story is everything I Can Move More stands for: courage, connecting and community.

After the fantastic response to our Autumn 2025 programme, we’re excited to launch the next 12‑week series in April 2026.

This course helps adults enhance their mental wellbeing, build confidence and strengthen social connections. It’s delivered in partnership with Doda Yoga, Andover Mind and Andover PCN.

One participant recently shared: "This course has transformed my life - I’ve learned techniques to support myself and feel more connected to others."

😵‍💫 Feeling faint, light-headed or dizzy when you stand up?

Try using “the heart of the legs” ❤️🦵

When you get up, give your legs a little “pump” with some alternate heel raises – just like in the video 👇🏻

Why it works: pumping your legs contracts the muscles around the veins, pushing blood back up to your heart and brain. This helps your blood pressure stabilise, gets oxygen to your brain faster, and can ease that dizzy feeling.

Fun fact: our volunteer Chris came up with the term “the heart of the legs” at our recent I Can Get Up! workshop, where we shared tips for standing safely from a seated position.

Who knew First Aid training could look this entertaining? 😄

Some of our Valley Leisure team members and volunteers recently took part in First Aid training. Judging by the photos, there was plenty of learning… and quite a few bandages involved!

Thankfully the bandages were all part of the training (and not because anyone actually needed them), but it’s safe to say everyone had a great time picking up some important life-saving skills along the way.

A big thank you to Community First and First Response First Aid Ltd for making the training so engaging – proof that First Aid training doesn’t have to be boring! 👏
