North Surgery, Annan The North Surgery has been serving the Annandale community on our current site in Greencroft Wynd since 1991.

We are an NHS general medical practice who offers a full range of services to around 7500 patients in Annan and the surrounding area. All GP practices are contracted to provide “essential services”, that is, basic treatment of ill people. We also provide the following “additional services”:

Child Health Surveillance together with the health visitors

Contraceptive services including coil insertio

n and implant insertion

Maternity services in the ante-natal and post-natal period together with the midwives

Routine immunisation of children, together with the health visitors

Immunisation for adults in relation to travel. Not all travel vaccinations are available on the NHS; please ask our practice nurses for details
Cervical smears

Freezing small skin lesions

We also hold contracts with NHS Dumfries and Galloway for the following “enhanced services”
An annual ‘flu immunisation programme to protect the elderly and at risk

Regular monitoring by blood and urine tests for patients on a range of drugs for arthritis and bowel problems

Monitoring of warfarin blood tests and dosage

Good morning, we re-opened at 16:30 yesterday after a planned 4 hour closure for staff training. Apologies to anyone who received the strange phone message that said we were closed until early September! We're definitely here for you and we're investigating where the message came from.

Our practice will be closed from 12:30 on 12th May for a Protected Learning Time session. We will re-open again at 08:00 on 13th May.

We encourage you to plan ahead similar to public holiday closures to ensure you have all medications you require during this period.

Joining Patient Services (was previously called Patient Access)
1. Open the email, make a note of the login details
Account ID
Linkage Key -
2. Choose Register new account below the login box
3. Choose ‘YES’ - When asked if you have received a registration letter, it means the e-mail you received and add the Practice ID shown on the email.
4. Enter your Account ID and Linkage ID from the email - be careful it's case sensitive
5. Create a unique username
6. Enter your chosen password in both password boxes – make a note of your username and password – you’ll need them later
7. Add your personal details and then tick the box to agree to the terms & conditions and Privacy Policy.
8. Tick the box ‘I am not a robot’
9. Select the ‘Register’ box
This is the registration period only. You will not be able to order prescriptions yet. Prescriptions can be ordered using e-Consult or by completing the 'repeats' page of your prescription and dropping it into the prescriptions box by the Reception desk. You can also telephone these through as you did previously.

Tomorrow (Friday 20th), Monday and Tuesday next week we will only be able to see urgent patients and give only urgent acute prescriptions, as we prepare for our turn to move to the new Scotland-wide computer system.
We will not be able to offer:
- routine appointments
- Patient access & e-Consult as these will be closed from 2pm today.
- answer calls for routine appointments or test results
- issue any repeat prescriptions
- issue sick notes (we will issue backdated ones if required when we're back on-line on 25th)

We will not be able to make exceptions. If you find yourself without enough medicines during this time, please speak to your usual pharmacist who my be able to issue an emergency supply. For advice for routine ailments please ring 111 or go to https://www.nhs24.scot/
