Happy Thursday Everyone 😍

Today was stock day which means new, amazing Podiatry supplies which always makes us happy , and to add to the excitement- HUGE boxes- which as you can see keeps the smallest member of the feet4U family happy!!

🦶 Cracked heels 😱

This is an extremely common problem especially during sandal season! The skin drys out on the heels and large cracks or as we call them fissures can occur ! These can be very unsightly, painful and hard to treat.

Open backed shoes or slippers do not help. They expose the skin to the elements and can cause the fat pad of the heel to expand with every step.

💡 Helpful tips

⭐ Hydrate !! Those feet need moisturiser, something high in urea and ideally it needs to be applied several times a day!! At feet4U we love flexitol heal balm!!

⭐ A magic tip - Snowfire ointment stick

⭐ Drink lots of water

⭐ Gently pumice the area before applying moisturiser - however in some cases the skin is so dry sharp debridement is required and that's when your Podiatrist can really help!!

⭐ Supportive footwear and socks ! We love cotton or bamboo 😍

😱 Dreaded thick yellow Callus 😱

Hard skin on the feet known as Callus is extremely common and one of the reasons why people tend to not like the way their feet look or feel.

❓ So what is it

Calluses are areas of hardened skin which develops to protect underlying tissue from chronic friction, pressure or irritation.

👠 They can be caused by ill fitting footwear, tights / socks, walking bare foot, age , or underlying medical conditions which contribute to the loss of natural cushioning in the foot.

😍Helpful Tips

🦶Avoid bare foot walking
🦶Ensure shoes are a good fit , comfortable , offer support and match your activity that day.
🦶 Use a foot moisturiser ( urea based if possible) apply daily and avoid in between the toes
🦶GENTLY use a pumice or file once a week to help reduce callus build up
🦶 A nice foot soak every now and then also helps 😉
🦶See your podiatrist as and when needed 😍

❤️ Love your feet month ❤️

' I just love my feet' is unfortunately not a phrase we podiatrists hear all that often 😂

But at Feet4U we just love Feet!!

Why? ❓

Well, your feet provide a base for your entire body, they provide shock absorption, balance, sensory feedback and most importantly they work extremely hard to provide mobility allowing us to walk on average 100,000 miles in a lifetime!

🏃So using your feet , keeps you active and healthy! 🫁🫀🧠

In February we are going to post a few helpful hints on how to look after common foot complaints and hopefully you will learn to love your feet as much ( or nearly as much) as we do ! 🦶 ❤️

⚠️ Winds ⚠️

We are out and about this morning , there are a few trees down in places, there are a lot of small caddy bins blowing on the road side and the wind is picking up! Please everyone be very careful and stay safe if you are out on the roads today, January weather has been a bit of a nuisance !

👏 Caroline spent a fantastic day yesterday Volunteering her Podiatry services at Special Olympics. 👏

It was a busy, amazing day , with so many incredible athletes and supporters. What a great way to end November :)
