😊 Fun Foot Fact Friday 😊

Why is footwear so important ?

Have you ever listened to yourself walking down the stairs or on a treadmill and thought , oh I sound like I am stomping about 🫢 🐘

Well, when you walk, the pressure on your feet actually exceeds that of your body weight. When you run, your feet absorb three to four times your body weight, 🦶 which is why your feet need all the support they can get from the right footwear 👟

If in doubt about footwear never hesitate to ask your Podiatrists advice.

We just love sharing all our footwear knowledge 🤓 ❤️

🌞Sunscreen and our Feet 🌞

😎Be sun smart and protect those feet from :

🦶 Painful sunburn
🦶Skin cancer
🦶Maintain skin health

Podiatrists do unfortunately see foot lesions which require dermatology referral and surgical removal, in our routine clinics.

As we know too well, feet are very easily forgotten about , so this is a gentle reminder to APPLY SUNCREAM to those feet , and repeat every 2 hours or more frequently if you are in and out of water 💦

✔️ And it's always helpful to monitor any existing freckles or moles on the feet by having a picture of them to check for any changes 🤓

🦶As Podiatrists we meet a lot of people with type 2 Diabetes 🤓Unfortunately we also meet a lot of people who have Diabetes but don't even know that they have it ! Below is a list of early warning signs that may help. If you recognise any of these symptoms, please discuss with your healthcare provider :)

Type 2 diabetes symptoms?

A lot of people don’t get any signs or symptoms of type 2 diabetes – or don’t notice them. Symptoms can include:

Weeing a lot, especially at night.

Being really thirsty.

Feeling more tired than usual.

Losing weight without trying to – and getting thinner.

Ge***al itching or thrush.

Cuts and wounds taking longer to heal.

Blurred eyesight.

This weather is amazing!!! 😍 Perfect for running !!!!

🦶 Each foot contains 26 bones. Therefore, the 52 bones in your feet account for about a quarter of all the bones in your body! 🦶

This goes to show how intricate , detailed and important our feet truly are.
