Rotten Island Lighthouse near Killybegs is a small island close to the entrance of Killybegs Harbour, an inlet of Donegal Bay. The island is renowned for the Rotten Island Lighthouse, a significant navigational aid constructed in 1838 to guide vessels safely through the passage from St. John's Point to the inner channel of Killybegs Harbour.

The lighthouse was built in 1838 to guide ships through the treacherous waters of Donegal Bay, notorious for shipwrecks. The lighthouse itself is not open to the public but some private boat tour operators offer visitors trip to Rotten Island. The surrounding area offers stunning views of the rugged Donegal coastline.

Killybegs is one of Ireland's busiest shipping ports, its harbour boasts beauty, history and amazing wildlife.

POP was saddened to hear yesterday of the death on Sunday (3rd Nov') of Pascal Benson from Alder Park, Antrim. Pascal will be familiar to many of you who over the years attended or visited Bannside Pharmacy (O'Brien's), Pascal was a therapist and for a few years took one of Eoghan's rooms. Pascal practised Acupuncture & Kinesiology and from all accounts was first class at his job, he also ran a clinic in Antrim. When I used to visit, Pascal always enjoyed a chat, he had a great love for Irish Traditional music and would ask me about Fleadhs and gigs had had been at. Pascal played the Uilleann pipes and loved a good traditional session. Pascal also was a keen Goldwing motor cyclist.
I would like to pass on my sincere sympathies to his wife Áine, his children Rónán (Anne Marie), Fionnuala (Liam), Bronagh (Paddy) and Conor, his twin brother of Damien, his brothers Fintan & Jarlath, his grandchildren Aidan, Eoghan, Niall, Nathan, Darragh, Conall, Matthew, Ruairi, Declan, Alfie and Pádraig and the entire Benson family at this sad time. In remembering Pascal we also remember his deceased family members.
FAMILY NOTICE
Pascal is reposing at his family home until Wednesday 6th November when his remains will be removed to St Joseph’s Church, Antrim for Requiem Mass at 11.00am followed by burial in Six Mile Cemetery.
In keeping with Pascal’s wishes please add bright colours to your outfit.

May Pascal Rest in Peace
