My name is Maria Edwards and I am a qualified and experienced counsellor. I work using an Integrative/Humanistic approach. Counselling gives people a safe place to talk about, and explore their own feelings and thoughts. I am a registered member of the BACP (British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy) and I am therefore bound by the BACP Ethical Framework for Good Practice. This ensures that I work safely and ethically with my clients. Often, past and current life events affect our lives, thoughts, behaviour and decisions. Counselling can help explore patterns of behaviour, and patterns of relating to others. Exploring thoughts and behavioural patterns can facilitate an increased awareness of self, and with this new found self-awareness, people can change the way they live their lives, putting them in control of the decisions and choices they make. I do believe that the core conditions I offer in my counselling room(empathy, congruence and unconditional positive regard) can facilitate self-awareness and growth in clients. I have also worked as a voluntary counsellor at a women's centre in Bedfordshire where I have gained valuable experience counselling women with a wide range of issues. I also have over 13 years experience in the weight-loss industry and understand that weight issues go far beyond simply what people eat. I realise that there are deep, often unspoken, reasons why people have difficulty with weight and body image. Finding the right counsellor to work with is of utmost importance for the therapeutic relationship to be effective. I offer a free 15 minute telephone assessment. Counselling sessions are charged at
£50 per hour for individuals.
£70 per hour for couples. Clinical Supervision for counsellors and trainee counsellors:
£70 For 1.5 hours.
£60 For 1 hour. My therapy room is based In Arlesey, Bedfordshire. I offer a safe, non-judgemental, confidential, private, and quiet space where you can talk about whatever issues you wish to.
