Adaptation, not misalignment
In classical osteopathy, we look at how forces act on the body, how it absorbs, transfers, and adapts to everything from movement and posture to the stresses of daily life.
Patients are often told they’re “misaligned” or “out of balance.” While it’s true that no one is perfectly symmetrical (despite what textbooks might suggest), this isn’t something that’s wrong. It’s simply your body adapting to the forces placed upon it, finding the most efficient way to keep you moving and functioning.
Problems arise when those adaptations are asked to do too much, when certain areas become overworked, strained, or can no longer compensate effectively. That’s when discomfort or pain tends to appear.
At Adams Osteopathy, our aim isn’t to “fix” asymmetry, but to support the body’s ability to adapt well, helping restore ease, movement, and balance throughout the whole system. ✨
