🚨Spotting the signs of blood cancer in children🚨

Blood cancers like leukaemia can sometimes look like everyday childhood illnesses, which is why awareness is so important. Symptoms to look out for include:
• Unusual tiredness or weakness
• Pale skin
• Frequent infections or fevers
• Easy bruising or nosebleeds
•Bone or joint pain
• Swollen glands or tummy

These signs don't always mean cancer, but if you notice a combination of them, it's important to seek medical advice. Early detection can make a huge difference.💛🎗️🧡

BIG NEWS FOR OUR FAMILIES 💗

As many of you know what we do as a charity has always room for improvement and in my eyes we will never be able to do enough.
Heir Lan Ben House has been a haven for our families to go and enjoy a taste of normality. We have now added a magnificent extension to the property with a beautiful new additional room, a courtyard, a pergola, new disabled access, a magnificent wall surrounding the property along with the driveway being tarred. The house is now looking even more impressive (if that was possible) and our families are going to be truly overwhelmed when they stay.
We have now made even bigger plans.
Our families, at the time of diagnosis, will now receive £2500 to help with the extra expenditure of a hospital stay, this gives each family just over £200 per week until they receive their PIP allowance and carers allowance which the don’t receive until the child is 12 weeks diagnosed.
Our Christmas bonus to help with the cost of Santa has also been increased to £300 per child under the age of 16 with the maximum being £1500 to any family.
Our gift for our children has also been increased to allow for the rising costs.
We have allowed £500 for every sibling for flights to enable them to travel to see their parents while they are overseas for treatment with the sick child.
Finally we have decided to add on help with the cost of oil or gas to ensure our families can afford to keep their homes warm for our little ones. Each family will receive a £500 in February.
Please remember new families are being added to our books on a far too regular basis therefore all our support (apart from emotional) will be withdrawn when your child finishes treatment.
We know this money will not help reduce the anxiety our families face as they travel this journey of the unknown but we do hope it will reduce the financial impact a cancer related diagnosis can cause.
Angel Wishes continues to give 100% of all donations into our families journey.
None of the above support would be possible without the incredible donation we receive from everyone.
We would like to thank everyone who has donated and continues to donate to our charity as without you none of this would be possible 💗💙

Not all heroes wear capes — some wear scrubs! Today we are celebrating International Nurses Day and we just want to say thank you!

A special thanks to the heroes on the Hematology & Oncology ward and out patients at the Royal Victoria Hospital for Sick Children. Who are nothing short of extraordinary. Their unwavering compassion, skill, and dedication make such a difference to the lives of their young patients and their families. Every day they comfort and reassure patients during their toughest moments.

Thank you for everything you do! 💙

🎗️Today is AML awareness day.

No one ever expects their child to be diagnosed with cancer.

Here are some general cancer symptoms:

🎗️Very heavy night sweats or fever
Sweating at night or having a high temperature (fever) can be caused by infections or a side effect of certain medications. It’s also often experienced by women around the time of the menopause. But speak to your doctor if you have very heavy, drenching night sweats, or an unexplained fever.

🎗️Fatigue
There are lots of reasons why you may feel more tired than usual, particularly if you’re going through a stressful event, or having trouble sleeping. But if you’re feeling tired all the time, or, for no clear reason, it could be a sign that something is wrong - speak to your doctor.

🎗️Unexplained bleeding or bruising
Unexplained bleeding or bruising when you have not hurt yourself is important to get checked out by your doctor. This includes blood in your poo or p*e, as well as vomiting or coughing up blood. It also includes any unexplained vaginal bleeding between periods, after s*x or after the menopause. No matter how much blood or what colour it is (blood can be red, or a darker colour like brown or black), speak to your doctor.

🎗️Unexplained pain or ache
Pain is one way our body tells us that something is wrong. As we get older, it’s more common to experience aches and pains. But unexplained or persistent pain anywhere in the body could be a sign of something more serious.

🎗️Unexplained weight loss
Small weight changes over time are quite normal, but if you have lost a noticeable amount of weight without trying to, tell your doctor.

🎗️Unusual lump or swelling anywhere
Persistent lumps or swelling in any part of your body should be taken seriously. This includes any lumps in the neck, armpit, stomach, groin, chest, breast, or testicle.
