✨ What Is Counselling – Really? ✨

I want to share a little about what counselling really is. It’s not about being “fixed”, it’s about having a safe space to talk, be heard, and sort through what’s on your mind.

Sometimes life feels messy, confusing, or heavy. Counselling is a place to untangle that, understand yourself better, and find ways to feel a bit lighter. You don’t need to be in crisis…sometimes it’s just about wanting things to feel different.

🟣 Eating Disorders Awareness Week 🟣
(23rd Feb- 1st March 2023)

This week invites us to raise awareness and deepen understanding of how eating disorders affect lives.

An estimated 1.25 million people in the UK are currently living with an eating disorder, and around 1 in 50 will experience one at some point. Research also shows that eating disorders have one of the highest mortality rates of any mental health condition, and that over half of those affected never receive treatment.

These conditions can affect anyone. They’re often hidden, complex, and closely linked to emotional distress, trauma, and the need for safety or control.

As a community, we can help by:
• Listening with empathy
• Sharing accurate, stigma-reducing information
• Supporting those in recovery
• Advocating for accessible, trauma-informed care

If you or someone you care about is struggling, support is available, and recovery is possible.

🌳Healing begins when we gently explore our roots- our stories, our experiences, our emotions.

In counselling, we offer a quiet, compassionate space for this kind of reflection, a supportive moment where you can notice what you’ve been carrying and understand yourself with greater clarity.

In that stillness, balance returns, strength grows, and peace becomes possible, one steady step at a time.

The Emotional Baggage We Carry

It isn’t always visible…but it’s heavy.

It’s the dread you don’t talk about.
The doubt that follows you.
The tension in your shoulders.
The fear, the worry, the unease you carry every single day.

We all carry something.
Past hurts. Disappointments. Regrets. Unspoken pain.

But here’s the truth:
You are allowed to put it down.
You are allowed to heal.
You are allowed to ask for help.
You don’t have to carry it alone

💛 Children’s Mental Health Week 2026- This Is My Place 💛

Every child deserves a space where they feel safe, heard, and valued.

When children feel they belong, they grow in confidence and resilience.

Let’s help every child feel they can say,
“This is my place.” 💚

Time to Talk Day

Let’s shift the conversation around mental health.

One in four people will experience a mental health problem. Yet so many still feel isolated, ashamed, or unsure how to speak openly about what they’re going through.

Time to Talk Day is about breaking that silence. It’s an invitation:
to talk,
to listen,
and to change lives
One honest conversation at a time.

Whether it’s a quiet chat over a cup of tea or a simple "how are you really?" with someone you care about. Your words matter.
Let’s make space for real conversations. Let’s remind each other: “You matter, you are important, and you deserve to be heard"

Under The Full Moon

I stepped outside this evening, and the full moon stopped me in my tracks. It was one of those moments where everything feels a little quieter, a little softer. The sky was bright, the air was still, and for a few seconds I just stood there.

There’s something about the beauty of a full moon that reaches you before you even realise you needed it. It has a way of lighting up the things we’ve been carrying; the tiredness, the hopes, the worries we’ve tucked away.

Nights like this can bring clarity, or tenderness, or simply the reminder that we’re human and doing our best.

Wishing you all a gentle start to the week ahead

When Your Mind Won't Switch Off

Overthinking can feel like your brain is stuck on “repeat”, replaying moments, imagining worst‑case scenarios, or second‑guessing every choice. It’s exhausting, and it’s more common than many people realise.

You don’t have to solve everything in your head. Pausing, breathing, and grounding yourself in the present can create a little space to breathe again.

If overthinking is weighing you down, support is here when you need it.
Face‑to‑face and online sessions available.

If no one has told you lately......
"You are enough"
Not because you’ve achieved everything you hoped for, but because your worth isn’t measured by productivity or perfection. It’s rooted in who you are, even in your most uncertain moments.

Counselling Reflection

“Adapt to the pace of nature; her secret is patience.”

Healing doesn’t rush; neither should you.
Growth unfolds in its own time, just like nature.

As wisdom often attributed to Lao Tzu reminds us, strength comes from alignment, not force.

Move gently. Trust your timing.

Reflective Practice Invitation

Clinical supervision provides counsellors with a supportive space to reflect on their work, deepen their skills, and maintain a foundation in ethical and safe practice. It’s where we explore client work, techniques, and the practitioner’s own wellbeing - all to ensure high‑quality care and sustainable practice.

If you’re a trainee or qualified counsellor feeling the weight of complex work, January can be a gentle moment to reconnect with reflective space.

Supervision offers room to breathe.
Room to think.
Room to be held in the work you carry for others.

I offer face‑to‑face and online supervision, with spaces available for 2026.
