One of the key aims of the peer support group is for us to share wisdom between us - which is why I'm really excited that in the next circle (Thursday 4th september, 7-9pm) Sandy Henshaw of Aphrodite Health is going to be calling on her 15 years of experience within the realms of Traditional Chinese Medicine to tell us more about how emotions interact with each of the major organs.

TCM is something I am fascinated by, but know nothing about whatsoever, so I'm looking forward to this one for sure!

We'll also have space for chatting about whats going on in our own lives/businesses/practices as usual too!

If you're a therapist, or training to be, and not yet part of the peer support group the link to the info is here.

I shared this image back in 2018 originally (yes, this page has been going that long! Time flies!)

It feels even more true now - we've all been such a lot since then, and I feel like more and more of us are moving towards simpler, slower, more beautiful lives and I'm 100% here for it.

Go and love the infinitely small moments ❤️

Why is it important for your nervous system to be balanced?

Very simplified answer - because it can't be in a stressed state (feeling unsafe) and doing what its need to help your body repair from the day to day stuff it needs and for you to grow physically, mentally, spiritually or any other way - to do this it needs to feel safe.

Its also not all about being in a non-stressed state - we have that mode because it's how we get stuff done, but its not ideal to be in it constantly, feeling anxious, tired and stuck.

So I asked chatgpt to give me a quick routine for resetting, and here it is. As its all AIs work and not mine I thought I'd share it with you - my experience is these are all helpful suggestions.

So, whenever you have 5 minutes, give this routine a go and see how you feel.

I know I've been slack on social media lately - I could tell you I intend to buckle down and be more consistent with it, but I honestly don't intend to do that at all.

I've given myself permission to live outside of my phone and connect to the real world more than the one behind this screen.

So I will of course pop up randomly to share some info, or remind you I'm still here and ready to support you if you need it - but I'm spending more time having fun, chilling out in the garden or just pottering about. I hope you do too. Let's make 2025 the summer we just live a little.

Here's a pic of one of theo smiling at me in the garden - just cos he's cute.

It's easy to decide not to do something because of how long its going to take - I certainly had those thoughts about starting a degree part time 5 years ago.

Today I got my results for this year's module (a grade 2 pass, which is like a B) and this time next year I'll be getting my final results and be finished!

And the 6 years will have passed - as they would have done whether I started or not.

Anyway, what im saying is the time will pass anyway, so if its something you're excited about, don't worry about how long its going to take, just enjoy the ride. 💗

When your body is in pain the key to resolving it is understanding whats caused the pain (muscle strain from lots of gardening is my current example and inspiration for this post) and then finding the balance between allow yourself to rest and recover, and adding gentle movement and stretching to help keep things moving and not seize up.

Emotional pain is exactly the same. It is even on the same neural pathways - your body doesn't know its different.

So if you're struggling with something at the moment, find the right balance of rest and movement for you.

And if you're a bit stuck, reach out for support. 💗

I've been saying "after this week I'll have some time to chill a bit" for what seems like months (but actually was only May when we went on holiday) - so I've made sure that's true this week and have taken next week off.

We do have a big garden project going on, so there will be a lot of shifting gravel - but there will also be time to stop and watch the butterflies and bees buzz around the garden - which is what I'm doing now in this glorious morning sunshine before the day kicks in for real.

Enjoy you're weekend - and whatever you're getting up to I hope you also have time to slow down a bit.

Doesn't it seem like everyone else has got their s**t together and you're the only one who is kicking like mad under the surface?

It's tiring!

There's 2 things I wanna say about it, that are obvious but easily forgotten when you've got your head down ploughing on.

1. It's not just you - it's everyone at some point.

2. You dont have to hide it - you can say you're struggling and ask for help (or not expect someone else to notice and be pi**ed off when they don't) - whether that's with moving the sofa or some big internal stuff.

I realise no.2 is going to have brought some stuff up for some people - it's not how many of us were raised - so if it has, that's a good place to start looking for the light.

(Image nicked from FB page plantsages cos it made me chuckle)

Next Thursday is peer support circle again! Quickly becoming my fave 2 hours of the month - how can you not love being in the company of motivated people who put themselves out there and support each other so beautifully?!

This month we're looking at EFT Movie Technique - with a bit of insight from other modalities as well (hypnosis and NLP) as to how similar set ups are used. The aim of this session is to simplify, answer questions, share wisdom and build confidence using this technique.

We'll also be looking at case studies and supporting with any other subjects / questions that have come up too!

If you're a trained or training therapist and would love to join us, the link is https://carolinepett.com/peer-support/

Ponderings on clearing out a sock drawer.

How do we end up holding onto so many things that no longer suit us, or serve us, or we just dont like any more simply because they are not "bad enough" to throw away?

Does it matter who gave them to us if we now actively choose to swerve them? Surely throwing them away years down the line doesn't mean we didn't appreciate the gift at the time. I doubt the giver is wondering about it.

We're overflowing with these things - leaving no space for anything new and lovely that may come, no room for new softness, support or joy.

Having written this, I may go have another pass at the drawer and create more space - but a cuppa and a cuddle with this one first. (Photo obviously not taken today, it features blue sky!)
