Topaz Centre

Topaz Centre The Topaz Centre is a Sexual Assault Referral Centre (SARC).

11/10/2022

We often get asked why we talk about ending violence against women and girls or refer to male violence. Sexual violence and abuse is disproportionately perpetrated against women and children by men, and this must be acknowledged if we hope to successfully tackle it.

Sexual violence is both a cause and a consequence of s*x and gender inequality and we must challenge the harmful and misogynistic attitudes that underpin it.

If you have experienced r**e, s*xual assault, s*xual abuse or any other type of s*xual violence, you can talk to us - visit our website for support information: https://bit.ly/3MiZ06O.

Do you know what Imara means?

Imara is a Swahili word meaning strength and empowerment.

The word 'Imara' was chosen to represent our service based on our mission to support recovery from child s*xual abuse, recognising and valuing the strength and resources of children and young people who come to Imara.

We aim to empower young people and families from all backgrounds, beliefs and cultures, because s*xual abuse can happen in every community.
