50 – Spirit of the River – Movement toward adventure
The Spirit of the River invites you to step into the flow, to stop swimming against or avoiding the current. Allow the waters to carry you downstream, away from the eddies and whirlpools. It’s time to heed the call of a new adventure waiting for you.

Stop working on the problem for a while. The issue is not what it seems; it is your addiction to fixing what has gone bad that is consuming so much of your time. Work to create a greater good, and the bad will resolve itself on its own. There is nothing that you can accomplish with more ‘efforting’, as the situation in your life right now are subject to forces beyond your control. Recognize this, step back, and trust the flow. There is no loss of face or lack of honour or integrity. It is simply the way things are at the moment.

When this card appears, it is time to say yes to the next leg of your journey. Your life is like a river, inevitably and inexorably flowing to the sea, which is your divine destination. Be fearless and release yourself to the rushing water in the middle of the stream. Whatever it is you are holding on to- the feelings, the thoughts, the beliefs about how things are or how they should or could be – can be fixed easily with the power of the Spirit of the River. Simply let go and enjoy the thrill of the tide.

13 – Dream Thief – Refusal of the Call
The Dream Thief is a soft and compelling seductress. Her only purpose is to keep you hypnotized by comfort and sameness. She wants you to tell your old stories over and over so you don’t evolve beyond them. Ask yourself whether you are reverting back to the familiarity of your origin story of why you were wounded or when you were rejected. Do you talk about how your family moulded you as a child without also acknowledging that you’ve already become someone else?

Teaching from an old wound will never allow you a new adventure. Instead, bring to mind how you’ve already changed, remembering that you have new stories to rely and build upon. Do you want to move beyond the barrier of glass you’ve placed between you and the horizon? You can, and it’s not difficult. Answer the call to a new adventure, and drop your resistance to sailing the uncharted seas of your potential. The wind will soothe and sing the Dream Thief to sleep so you can wake up and move forward.

You are much more than you know. Now it’s time to express what has lain dormant. Your new adventure has already begun.

64 – Woodwives / Adaptability
The woodwives dance into your dreams as a reminder to be grounded no matter life offers to you. You need to know who you are, what you’ll tolerate, what you’ve learned to date, and what boundaries to set so you feel good about yourself. Life is going to offer something extraordinary now, and in order to learn and receive in blessings, you must remember that being grounded gives you more freedom, not less.

You have everything you need; you have all it takes to do this now. If you also keep reminding yourself to be flexible, you will be amazed by how well things play out for you. The woodwives are both wisdom keepers and student of the new world, as these forest spiritshave an uncanny ability to adapt to changing circumstances and always find the perfect way to grow and expand. They represent what you already know how to do.

Learn. Be in beginner’s mind. Let go of your rigid notions of how things ‘should’ be, and be present to what is right now, unencumbered by your projections. Is there a storm brewing because things need to change? No worries – nothing can uproot you now, and it will pass, and you will dance with nature and move with it all.

Perhaps you’ve been given an opportunity to take a chance on something new, and you’re not sure how far you can go without losing your footing. Have no fear, for when you remember your roots -your integrity, your authentic self – you can stretch yourself beyond the invisible line you drew. Go for it. You will be so glad you did.

14 – Drifter – Experiencing Life as it Comes
The Drifter invites you to step out of your to-do list and your ordinary routine to feel the breeze against your skin, calling you to follow the wind and explore life’s opportunities.

When the Drifter appears, it is a sign that it’s time to cut the mooring lines holding you to the dock. It’s not important to know the destination before you set sail; it will become clear as you leave the port. Do not wait for a map, as there are none to where it is you are destined to go. But be sure that you do have a compass to keep you true. Yours is your pure love and your intention to be free, even of your own beliefs and preconceptions.

Few appreciate the energy of the Drifter. Here you might not seem to be doing anything worthwhile or meeting someone else ‘s expectations. But you are the only one who understands that others are running full-out on the hamster wheel and getting nowhere.

Your ‘lazyness’ is an underappreciated virtue. You know that life will find you and bring you everything you require without having to search for it, by simply being instead of frantically doing.
Even as you let your mind wander, releasing it to go on a daily walkabout, call it back home regularly to deliver news from the cosmos. The Drifter helps you find what you are looking for, even when you didn’t think you were seeking anything!

38 – Many Masks – The Authentic Self
We live in a world where everyone we see wears a mask. We wear these masks to cover up and protect who we really are. We learn to do so because we have been conditioned to try to appear a certain way to fit into society. Masks allow us to belong, so we remain within the confines of what is expected.

Masks are not inherently bad. Rather they provide context and structure for our personalities’ and souls’ expression. Some of us might believe that a particular mask, fixed and hardened onto us, is our permanent face. We forget that we are living beings, with a multitude of faces, enabling us to experience a fuller, more vibrant world.

Your authentic essence doesn’t want to be constrained by others’ expectations anymore. Now is the time to strip away the mask you’ve accepted and discover who you really are. A new self is emerging, and your perception changes as you adopt new ways of being.

Right now it’s really important to allow yourself to experiment, to experience the world in all its myriad potentials and possibilities. Try on different masks, and let yourself be fluid and curious. How will you know what you love and what you resonate with if you don’t take off the mask you’ve always worn and test-drive some new ones? Your authentic essence will never change; it will only express itself differently through these optional selves. Through trial and error, you discover more and more about who you want to become. What would it feel like to explore this side of you? Anything is possible if you’re willing to open up to your potential. You truly can move beyond the barriers that society has set. Use your imagination and step into the magic.

26 – Gathering Around – the Power of Community
There are times when you need positive reinforcement from others. Perhaps your journey has made you tired just before reaching the proverbial finish line, where your friends await to cheer your arrival. Know this – you are not alone, regardless of whether you think you are. People gather around to help with your next step as you bring it forth from the cosmos into the beauty of life. There has never been another you before, and you have a unique relationship with your friends, family, communities, and all those who gather to help you in the Unseen Realms.
Now is the time to allow assistance from others; ask for it and trust that you will receive it. You are safe and secure right now in this moment, truly supported in your beautiful, amazing, complicated life. You are heard by the angels, witnessed by the Divine, and loved – yes, loved – now and always by Life itself.
Whatever your query, you will find the help you need to achieve what you desire, and you will not have to this alone. Count on it.

Left – Eyes of the Eagle – Rising above the Fray
The Eyes of the Eagle offers you the gift of foresight, the skill of ‘looking ahead’ to see the unfolding of destiny before it all manifests as reality. The eagle’s extraordinary vision allows to spot the tiny mouse from its lofty prospective as it flies thousands of feet into the atmosphere. Ina similar fashion, you too can train your keen eye to discern the workings of humans.
Eyes of the Eagle is an invitation to witness the good, the bad, the ugly and the beautiful, yet react to nothing – act only to further your noblest calling. The eagle flies above all creatures, when it meets obstacles, it simply rises above them. Know that you are protected; you can fly high above the judgement slings and arrows and the darts of envy from others who may not have your great wings and are still arguing with the pigeons over crumbs.
Trust that you are ready for whatever fortune has placed before you, even if you feel not yet properly equipped to meet its challenges. Your willingness to say yes to Spirit has nothing to do with how well outfitted you are. Hesitating on the other hand, will suck the air from under your wings and make you lose altitude. You are called now to trust your heart and your instincts, to move fearlessly and not waver. The time is right, and no harm can come your way if your motives are pure and you act courageously.

Middle – Horseman – Herald of Change
When the Horseman appears, he is inviting you to spread the good news. Everyone already knows the bad news… your task is point out the beautiful when others see only the ugly – note the possible, no matter how implausible it may seem. This does not mean becoming giddy or blindly optimistic but rather reminding yourself that every storm cloud has a silver lining.
Become a herald of the positive. Put away the fatalistic attitude, the dire predictions, the dreadful expectations about the world or about your life. Declare the arrival of a new and better you. Proclaim that you have risen from the realms of the dead, woken from a long and dreadful slumber, and are back on the world stage – the show is on again.
The Horseman cautions you to not allow your exuberance to become hollow or trivial. Be sure that there is substance to the news you spread, and you are willing to live up to the expectations you raise. The world will welcome you with open arms as you share an uplifting message!
Heed the Horseman when he shows up once, for he bears good news and is announcing a prosperous and peaceful time. When he shows up twice in the same reading, though use extreme caution. If you heed his warnings, all will turn out well.

Right – Covenant – Sacred Contract
You are being invited now by the Universe to enter into a scared contract. The Covenant card may also be a call to recognize that an ancient agreement you made with Spirit needs to be reviewed… or cancelled and torn up. Is an opportunity showing up right now that is full of promise, but you are unable to sign and seal the deal and commit to it? The reason is that it needs to be elevated to a sacred Covenant.
A Covenant must be founded on the Truth. Not ‘your’ truth or ‘his’ truth or ‘her’ truth, but a greater Truth that takes the destiny of all into account. The covenant is not about your agenda only. Spirit must be invited to come to the table as guarantor of the good faith of all and to ensure that the direction you are embarking in will be for the greater good.
It’s important that you understand what you are signing for: Be sure to read the fine print, so as not to commit to something you will soon regret or that you will compromise your integrity. Do not hesitate to put all your own cards on the table so that your motives and desires are transparent and nothing is left in darkness. When shadow elements remain hidden, the Covenant breaks down and becomes a contract with an unspoken dark side that is inevitably fulfilled.
