Recently in school 5 of our children took part in West Sussex Bikeability. For 3 days they learnt how to ride their bikes safely on the road and look after their own bikes. Taking part required the children to use their listening skills, build their confidence in both road safety and trust in themselves and others. We are exceptionally proud of the children who achieved their Level 2 Bikeability and worked so hard throughout the course.

At The Amicus Community, we ensure that the environment feels safe, welcoming, and calming for the children we support.

Therapeutic care and input is at the heart of our work and ingrained in the everyday interactions, transitions and everything we do. Alongside this we offer a range of specialist interventions tailored to each child’s needs, including Music Therapy, play sessions, and Rebound Therapy. Many children also access weekly Psychotherapy sessions delivered by our Psychoanalytic Child Psychotherapists, offering a consistent, formalised private and safe space to work through trauma and build trust over time.

Our therapy suite was recently updated and reflects our community-wide commitment to creating an environment where every child feels supported and understood.

Raising money for charity's has always been important to our young person from spending her pocket money each week in charity shops, making donations, or donating her clothes and toys, it has always brought out a real selfless side to her. We have had many conversations of how she believes she is so lucky to have Amicus and some people are not that lucky. This feels so significant to what Amicus means to her and how she can use the love, nurture and care we provide her to help others.
Doing something as important as children in need and raising money shows the incredible progress our young person has made at Amicus. She is able to use skills and a positive mindset to put her mind to something and accomplish her set goal.
Our young person had a clear focus when planning our Red Nose Day Walk which was to help people, with her saying "I just want to give money to people that are not as lucky as me".
This project gave our young person so much opportunity to work on her creative skills and well as her planning, time management skills and leadership skills. She had a clear view of what she wanted to do and where she wanted to go. I think this showed in her poster she has created. She wanted this to be 100% her and I think her personality, creativity and enthusiasm shines through.
We have already raised £195 which we are over the moon about, with her saying "Wow we can help so many people"
This has been an absolutely amazing project to work on and I have witnessed her grow from strength to strength realising her ability to achieve such great things at only 10years old.
