Here’s what to expect from an MRI scan:

📍 Before your scan
You’ll arrive about 10 minutes early so we can complete a quick safety check and make sure you’re comfortable. You may be asked to remove jewellery or change into a gown.

🕒 During the scan
Your scan itself is painless and non-invasive — you lie still on a bed that glides into the scanner. Scans usually take between 15 minutes to an hour depending on what’s being examined.

🎧 Comfort first
Our MRI machine is wider and shorter than many older scanners, which can help people who feel uneasy in enclosed spaces. The team will give you ear defenders or headphones, and you can even play your own music if you like. You’ll be able to talk with the radiographer throughout, and you’ll also have a comfort bell so you can pause at any time.

✨ Reassurance for anyone worried about claustrophobia
We know scans can feel intimidating for some people. The wide opening, constant communication, noise-reducing technology, and personal support from our team all help make the experience as calm and reassuring as possible. If you have concerns about claustrophobia, please mention this before your appointment — we’re here to support you every step of the way.
