Mother’s Day here at Ascot was simply wonderful. The home was filled with beautiful flowers for all our lovely mothers, and everyone enjoyed a delightful afternoon tea shared with family members.

Seeing our residents surrounded by their loved ones and watching everyone enjoy such special moments together truly brought joy to us all. What a lovely day it was.

Wow. Today a family came in to say a huge thank you after losing their loved one only a few weeks ago.

They wanted to express their heartfelt gratitude for everything the team did in supporting both their loved one and the family through what was truly a difficult journey and an incredibly hard decision. Knowing that his medical care would be taken care of with dignity, compassion and without pain gave them the peace of mind they needed.

Because of this, the family were able to spend their time simply being family again — reminiscing together with laughter and tears — knowing they had precious quality time rather than needing to be the carers.

When their loved one first arrived, he said how thankful he was that it didn’t look like a hospital or a care home, but more like a hotel, with windows looking out onto nature and the gardens.

The flowers they brought are now in the community, chosen by the family in the colours of Signature. The words written in their card were incredibly thoughtful and are a true testament to the care team who give so much, day in and day out, and deliver such a high standard of care.

What an incredible morning at Signature at Ascot with World Wildlife and Zoolab! 🐍🕷️

Our amazing residents were feeling brave and even held a corn snake who was certainly on the move and wiggling everywhere… though we’re told she was very friendly! We also met a female tarantula who was wonderfully docile and didn’t move the entire time she was here – just how we like it!

There was also an African toad (who thankfully kept his lid on, otherwise we might have been chasing him down the hall!) and the largest cockroach species, the Megaloblatta. I truly admire our fantastic residents who were brave enough to handle these fascinating creepy crawlies.

There were so many great questions asked, and it was wonderful listening to the keepers share their knowledge and passion for these animals.

A brilliant morning where lots was learned and fears were overcome. Thank you Zoolab for such a memorable visit!

We recently celebrated the Chinese New Year of the Horse here at Ascot with a wonderful afternoon of culture, cuisine, and connection. Our chefs served a selection of delicious dishes inspired by traditional flavours, followed by a fun and engaging Chinese New Year quiz. It was a truly lovely afternoon enjoyed by everyone.
