A couple of days away to reset and take a bit of a break from work ..... time to just breathe and reconnect with nature and have some quiet time. Just Harry and some sheep (plus a catch up with Bruce) ... long walks, yummy food and a cosy cabin.

I know I'm very lucky to be able to take this time out but it also made me realise how even 5 mins a day can help you lower the stress hormones and reconnect with the little things in life that make you feel grateful.

I try to find a nice balance with my exercise and as we head into winter my lake swimming becomes less about distance and time but more the therapeutic benefits of the cold water .... I've learnt how to push myself out of my comfort zone and I'm now back out of the wetsuit and into my swimming cozzee as I focus on the feeling of the water and the effect it has on calming my mind ... it is also nice to be able to have a little chat with the ducks!

The community Bray Lake Watersports is just lovely and you feel supported in whatever feels right for you

As we have just celebrated World Menopause Day I felt it was a great time to reflect on my journey! As a busy midwife and mum with three young children I often felt so weak and tired and I could really feel the impact of having three pregnancies close together.

It was after a trip to a trampoline park when I realised I needed some core and pelvic floor strength too ๐Ÿ™ˆ and I couldn't run more than a mile without getting pain in my knees!

This is when I knew I needed to get fitter and stronger and it's where my journey began!

Fast forward 10 years and having just hit 50 I can honestly say I've never been fitter and stronger and it feels amazing! I'm so excited to be continuing this journey and as I always say ... I aim to be hanging from the monkey bars in the park in my 90's!!
