🎉 Crowning Culinary Excellence! 👨‍🍳✨

A huge congratulations to Simon Boyden from Knowle Park in Cranleigh, who has been crowned Aria Care’s Chef of the Year 2025! 🏆

In the thrilling final at Brakes’ innovation centre in Reading, six talented chefs went head-to-head, but it was Simon’s incredible menu, including a standout pan-fried hake with a spinach and brie cream sauce and a seasonal pumpkin millefeuille, that wowed the judges.

👏 “Simon’s creativity, attention to detail, and understanding of our residents’ needs truly stood out,” said James Clear, Aria’s Hospitality Director.

This annual competition celebrates the passion and care our chefs bring to every dish, making mealtimes truly special for our residents. 🍽️

One of this year’s themes is about prioritising mental health in the workplace, something we are deeply committed to across all our homes.

As the care sector continues to evolve, we’re introducing new ways to support mental health and emotional wellbeing, with support available to all colleagues, whenever it’s needed.

Whether it’s a personal challenge or a work-related worry, we offer access to a confidential counselling service 24/7 — by phone or online — offering a safe space to talk, day or night.

This World Mental Health Day, and every day, we stand together to support, uplift and care for one another.

As we look ahead to the Love Laundry Awards tomorrow, we want to take a moment to recognise some of the unsung heroes in care – our amazing housekeeping and laundry teams.

These incredible individuals work tirelessly behind the scenes to make sure our homes are clean, comfortable, and safe, playing a vital role in infection control, dignity in care, and the everyday wellbeing of our residents.

We’re absolutely thrilled that Sharon from Belmont House and Paul, our Group Hospitality Manager, have been named as finalists in this year’s awards!

About yesterday...

Not for the faint hearted, but everyone smashed it and was so brave! Even the staff.

We had a cockroach, a scorpion, a snake, a giant African land snail and a stick insect (look closely as it was carrying it's baby on it's back 🥰).

Whilst it was easy to shy away and avoid the these creepy crawlies, the residents utterly embraced them all! Even those that didn't want to touch were happy to look and learn more.

Thank you to ZooLab for the visit 🤗, what a huge success.

We are proud to announce our July Heart of Gold winner, Rosa - Head of Housekeeping at Dormy House.

Rosa works tirelessly to ensure that the entire home is clean, tidy and a place to feel proud of.

But it isn't just that. It's happy smiley face delighting our residents, the little touches that raise our hospitality levels to new heights. And finally it's the passion and love for keeping our outside space and gardens BLOOMING! 🌻🌸💐

To quote one of our residents when speaking of Rosa:

Double trouble today!

Whilst some of our residents enjoyed the therapeutic painting of butterflies with the amazing Creative Mojo Crowthorne, Wokingham, Bracknell & Reading, others were dancing and singing with Franco, our head of activities in the lounge.

We are definitely a creative home, getting involved in all the arts.

Bake off and spice smelling with star anaise, nutmeg and cloves!👩‍🍳👃

Some of the residents joined Angel and Franco to bake some fruit scones, followed by scent testing with our spices, tantalising the senses.

We definitely think little man shaped scone should win any bake off, although not sure about Brian eating the poor thing 😆🙈

Picnic by the lake anyone? 🥙🍲🥫

It's walk in the park week, although we can't quite claim too much walking, as we were chauffeur driven to our picnic in a golf buggy!

Thank you to Audley, Sunningdale for having us for lunch today.

It was amazing to visit somewhere different and utterly beautiful and have our residents share such an incredible trip together.

This was the first of many outings to Audley. And we can't wait!

We had SO much fun, and our female residents were very happy to see a woman firefighter! Girl power ⭐️

We are very grateful to Ashford and St.Peters Hospital discharge team for inviting us to take part in their Community Open Day 2025 as a key care service provider in area.

It was a great opportunity for us to showcase Dormy House and speak about the services we offer, and also brilliant to connect with other businesses also working to continuously improve healthcare services, ensuring they are accessible to all that may require them.

Such an enjoyable day, well done to everyone involved!

It is safe to say that EVERYONE was smitten today with our furry and feathered visitors to Dormy House.

The stars of the show were most certainly Sweetie and Sky, the springer spaniel poodle cross pups! They were just adorable 🥰🤗

We are blessed with our monthly pet therapy visit, always changing it up and putting the widest smiles on our resident's faces.

I bet like us you can't stop peeking through these gorgeous pics 😍🐶🐔😽🐰
