SW Nutrition

SW Nutrition Naturopathic Nutritional Therapist I am a great supporter of conventional science and orthodox medicine.

Naturopathy can help you amend your nutritional and lifestyle habits and work with you to overcome health obstacles through strengthening and supporting your body’s natural restorative abilities. To make sure the plan we structure is right with you, I work with your consent in collaboration with your GP to enable you the best possibility of good health. However it has been recognised in the modern world we live in that alternative and natural ways of healing health issues are effective. Naturopathic nutrition and guidance aids us to get to the root of the problem rather than masking them with only drugs. It’s important to look at patient’s long term quality of life rather than just immediate solutions.

You don’t need to chase the next supplement, pill, or quick fix.
You already hold the most powerful medicine within your daily choices.

🍔 Processed food keeps your nervous system on edge — every bite can fuel anxiety.
⏸️ Fasting gives your body time to reset, rebalance hormones, and quiet inflammation.
🏃‍♀️ Exercise unlocks natural antidepressants your brain is craving.
😴 Sleep restores what stress has taken — your hormones, energy, and focus.
🌳 Nature lowers cortisol faster than any prescription ever could.

The answers have always been simple — but not easy.
Start with one today. Your body and mind will thank you. 💚

🌅 Why Fasting + Coffee First Thing Isn’t Helping Your Metabolism ☕️

Many women start their day with just coffee—thinking it’ll boost focus or support weight loss—but in reality, it’s often doing the opposite.

When you wake up, your cortisol (stress hormone) is naturally at its peak. Drinking caffeine or skipping breakfast amplifies that stress response, keeping your body in “fight or flight” mode instead of “rest and digest.”

Over time, this pattern can lead to:
1️⃣ Blood sugar imbalances — leading to energy crashes, sugar cravings, and irritability.
2️⃣ Sluggish metabolism — your body conserves energy instead of burning it efficiently.
3️⃣ Hormonal disruption — increased stress hormones can interfere with thyroid and reproductive balance.

✨ Try this instead: have a balanced breakfast before or with your coffee—something with protein, healthy fats, and fibre to stabilise blood sugar and support cortisol balance.

💬 Your morning routine sets the tone for your metabolism all day.
If you’ve been relying on coffee and fasting and feel tired, anxious, or bloated—your body might be asking for a reset.

Slow cooker poached whole chicken & ginger soup.

This warming & immune supporting recipe is perfect to eat while we transition into the cooler weather. It’s nourishing & delicious while being simple to prepare.

✅ 4Ibs Whole roasting chicken
✅ Celery (chopped)
✅ 2 cups shiitake mushrooms
✅ 1/4 cup ginger (sliced)
✅ 2 tbsps star anise (whole)
✅ 1 tsp black pepper
✅ 1 tsp sea salt (coarse)
✅ 8 cups water (plus more if needed)

Instructions
Place 3/4 of both the green onions and cilantro at the bottom of a slow cooker. Gently place the whole chicken on top, breast side up.
Add celery, mushrooms, ginger, star anise, peppercorns, and salt. Add the water, ensuring that the chicken is covered or almost covered. Add more water if needed.

🍎🥦 Why Eat Seasonal Foods in September?

As the seasons shift, our bodies naturally crave the nutrients that support us best right now. September’s fruits and vegetables—like apples, pears, blackberries, broccoli, leeks, and butternut squash—are packed with vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants that:

✨ Boost your immune system – Vitamin C in berries, apples, and broccoli helps your body fight off seasonal colds.
✨ Nourish your skin – Antioxidants in figs, plums, and carrots protect skin cells and give you that post-summer glow.
✨ Support natural rhythms – Eating seasonally provides foods at their peak freshness, meaning more nutrients, better taste, and less environmental impact.

👉 Add these September superfoods to your meals for stronger immunity and glowing skin this autumn.

💬 Tell me in the comments: Which seasonal fruit or veggie are you most excited to add to your plate this month?.
