Creating my birth environment šŸ¤

This part mattered so much to me..

I knew I wanted to feel completely safe, relaxed, and at home in my own space… because I knew that’s where my body would do its best work.

So I didn’t just ā€œhave a home birthā€ā€¦

I created it.

Our lounge became the space I had visualised for months.

Fairy lights glowing softly (although we actually never ended up turning them on..)
Battery candles flickering.

The birth pool taking centre stage, but leaving space to move freely all around it.

Curtains drawn. (Especially as I was in Labour during daytime.. I had always imagined it was at night)
Music ready.
My wedding aisle playlist and calming breathing tracks playing in the background.

My son involved and part of creating this moment for me.

My affirmations were pegged along the fireplace.
My birth ball was ready.
Essential oils in the diffuser.
Everything felt familiar, intentional, safe.

We even did a few practice setups beforehand… just so I could see it, feel it, imagine myself there.

And I did.

I could picture myself bringing my baby into that exact space.

That feeling of safety… that sense of ā€œthis is mineā€ā€¦ made all the difference šŸ¤

This week I’m sharing my birth story in the lead up to my daughter turning one on Thursday… and tomorrow I’ll be sharing the most special part of it all ✨

This field will always mean so much to me.

Early labour had started… my waters were gently trickling… and instead of rushing anywhere, we headed here.
Just me, Stew, my dog, and Mason.

We walked.
We talked.
We paused through surges.

I moved my body freely, felt the sun on my skin, and allowed myself to stay in that calm, safe space for as long as I could.

No pressure.
No rushing.
Just trusting my body.

I’d always imagined this…
that early labour could feel like this.

And I truly believe it helped me process everything that was happening - staying relaxed, feeling safe, and letting the oxytocin flow šŸ˜

It was also the most special, quiet time…
our last moments as a family of three before everything changed.

These are the moments I come back to.

This week I’m going to be sharing a little series leading up to my daughter’s 1st birthday on Thursday… including my homebirth story šŸ¤

I’ve recently started supporting pregnant mamas just like you in preparing for birth…

If you are inspired to learn about what our incredible bodies are capable of, trusting in that and then open to all of the tools and techniques that support you to feel calm, confident and in control!

ā€œMy body is designed to give birth.ā€

Such a simple sentence, but a powerful reminder.

When you truly understand what your body is capable of during birth, something shifts. Fear softens, confidence grows, and you begin to lean in and work with your body rather than feeling like it’s something happening to you.

Your body knows what it’s doing.

Birth isn’t a new concept your body needs to learn, women have been giving birth for hundreds of thousands of years. The wisdom is already within you.

When you understand the physiology of birth, how your muscles work together, how your hormones support the process, and how your mind can influence it all… you can begin to trust the process and trust yourself.

Knowledge really is power in pregnancy and birth.

And when you combine that knowledge with relaxation, breathing and time to connect with your baby, it can completely change the way you approach your birth.

You were made to do this. šŸ¤
