Personal Funeral (Direct Cremation)
Following the pandemic and the ongoing cost-of-living crisis, many families are choosing direct cremation. At Country Funerals, we believe this should never mean impersonal. Every person matters, and we are committed to ensuring each loved one is given a final journey filled with dignity, care, and kindness—even when no one is able to be in attendance.
From the first phone call through to the cremation itself, we are here to guide and support families every step of the way. All necessary paperwork can be completed with us in person or over the telephone, whichever feels easiest.
On the day of the cremation, a rose and plate are placed on the coffin, and your loved one is conveyed to Charing Crematorium in our hearse. We walk the hearse down the driveway and play a piece of music they loved as they enter the chapel. At this time, we can also read a poem, words, or a message chosen by the family. We remain in the chapel for a few quiet moments, listening to the music, before closing the curtains ourselves—ensuring your loved one is not alone at this final moment.
We also offer the collection of ashes, bringing them back into our care until the family are ready to collect them and place their loved one somewhere they will always be remembered.
Every life deserves to be honoured. If a direct cremation is the chosen journey, we will always ensure it is carried out with respect, warmth, and genuine compassion.
