At Westerleigh Group’s memorial gardens, the iconic white “Letters to Loved Ones” post-boxes let people drop cards and notes to their lost loved ones — a gentle way to stay connected, anytime.

The idea first came from a young girl, Matilda Handy, who wanted to send birthday and Christmas cards to her grandparents after they’d passed away. Her mum, a memorial advisor at Gedling Crematorium (also part of the Westerleigh Group), helped install the first white post box in December 2022.

This beautiful book, now here at Country Funerals, reminds us how important it is to write to the ones we love. It shares the heartfelt story of young Matilda’s wish to send letters to her grandparents after they passed — a simple, powerful reminder that love continues in the words we share.

A beautiful handwritten thank-you card arrived in our letterbox today from the Pilgrims Hospices.

Our tribute pages created for families have raised an amazing £5,152.01 in support of Pilgrims Hospices — a charity that provides compassionate end-of-life care and support to people across east Kent, helping patients live well in every moment, whether in one of their hospices or at home.

As we approach the festive season, Pilgrims Hospices are inviting families and friends to come together for their annual Trees of Love remembrance services. These special gatherings offer a beautiful way to celebrate and remember loved ones by dedicating a dove on one of their illuminated trees, shining brightly across Kent throughout December.

💙 Every donation and dedication helps Pilgrims continue to provide vital care, comfort, and support to local people when they need it most.
