Spotlight on: Carol Harmer – F.C. Wood, Ashford
This week, we’re shining the spotlight on Carol Harmer from F.C. Wood, based right in the heart of Ashford Town.
Carol has been part of the funeral industry for an incredible 35 years. She began her career with Great Southern, later joining Francis Chappell & Sons in London as a part-time funeral arranger. Through hard work and dedication, Carol was soon promoted to Community Manager.
18 years ago, Carol and her husband made the move to Ashford. For six years, she commuted to London before finally transferring to F.C. Wood, where she’s been ever since.
F.C. Wood is a well-established funeral director with a trusted reputation. Families often return to them generation after generation, thanks to the personal and compassionate service Carol and her small team provide. The team consists of Carol, who both arranges and conducts funerals, and Michelle, the funeral arranger.
When asked what makes her stand out, Carol said:
“Nothing is ever too much — I’ll always try my best to go above and beyond for the families we look after.”
That dedication certainly shows — Carol has conducted over 40,000 funerals throughout her career!
Outside of work, Carol loves giving back to the community. She regularly supports Pilgrims Hospice, hosting coffee mornings to raise funds — her most recent event raised £400!
