✨ NHS Ambassadors – Inspiring the Future ✨

On Wednesday 12th November, our Lifestyle Advisors Jan and Lynda, proudly represented the NHS at the Swale District Careers Fair held at Discovery Park, Sandwich, welcoming over 1,500 Year 9 and 10 students from across the area.

As part of Inspiring the Future, they were there to raise awareness of the wide range of NHS career pathways and talk about their own experience working within the One You Kent service. With the largest number of exhibitors ever gathered under one roof, the careers' event was buzzing with energy, curiosity and brilliant conversations.

Jan shared: “It was a fantastic event, and it was great to talk to such a huge number of young students. As NHS Ambassadors and One You Kent Lifestyle Advisors, we’re passionate about supporting and inspiring the next generation."

#3. Myth busting Monday: “I’ll put on weight”

Fact: It’s understandable to worry about gaining weight when you stop smoking. Some people do gain a little, but it’s not inevitable.

Ni****ne can suppress appetite 🍏 and speed up how your body burns calories. So when you quit, your metabolism may slow slightly, and your appetite might increase. If you replace smoking with frequent unhealthy snacks 🍟, weight gain is more likely.
However, if you stop smoking and maintain a balanced diet 🥗, it’s unlikely you’ll gain weight just because you’ve quit. Staying active and making healthy food choices are key.

Not everyone who quits smoking puts on weight. It’s your lifestyle choices – not quitting itself – that make the difference.
