Old Surrenden Manor Road, Bethersden - 24 January for up to 2 days.

The road will be closed between the junctions of Ashford Road and Mill Road. The alternative route is via Mill Road and Ashford Road.

This is to enable Kent Highways to carry out urgent carriageway repairs.

Firefighters are currently dealing with a fire at an electrical substation in , near . A smoke plume from the blaze is headed towards the town centre, so local residents are advised to keep windows and doors closed as a precaution. Thank you.

PARKING CHANGES IN NEW STREET:

The ticket machine on New Street is being removed today.

As a result, after 4.30pm each day, the marked parking bays adjacent to the single yellow lines will be freely open for use.

There is a single yellow line in place along New Street, between 8.30am - 4.30pm. Existing double yellow lines will remain in place.

Have you had your say yet? In response to feedback, East Kent and Medway NHS are adding two more listening events to their agenda.

These are part of wider pre-consultation on potential changes to local care and hospital services. Items being discussed include two potential options for hospital services, A&E services, specialist inpatient services, maternity services and children's inpatient services, frail elderly services and day surgery and outpatients.

The next two sessions will be held in:
• Tenterden: Monday, 10 December, at London Beach Country Hotel, Ashford Road, Tenterden TN30 6HX from 6.30 to 9.30pm (registration from 6.15pm)
• Faversham: Wednesday, 12 December, at Queen Elizabeth's Grammar School, Abbey Place, Faversham ME13 7BQ from 6.45 to 9.45pm (registration from 6.30pm*).
