'My choice is life'

I have spent too many years hiding.
I see it now, as I look back through
The thorny thickets of life’s path.
Drowning in pain, I burrowed deep and
Hid from the world to lick my wounds.

Now I grieve for the years lost to hiding,
The years lost because I let fear win.
And I see I have the choice:
I can play it safe. Or I can live again.
This time, my choice is life.

I choose to no longer live lost
To fears long past. To no longer hide.
No, now I will choose to live in the present.
I choose to love hard, even when it hurts.
I choose to exist in balance.

And when life gets hard, I will remember
That to feel love, we must feel heartbreak.
To feel joy, we must know sadness.
To feel peace, we must see battles.
To feel alive, we must face fear.
