What is a DVT Scan?
A Deep Vein Thrombosis scan is a non-invasive medical diagnostic imaging to check the presence of thrombus (blood clots) and blood flow in the large veins in the arms or legs. This scan also looks at superficial veins in the arms or legs if there are any blockage due to blood clots. However, the occurrence of blood clots is more common in the legs. This scan includes the assessment of femoral veins, sapheno-femoral junction, popliteal veins, sapheno-popliteal junction, and calf veins in your legs. It can help your healthcare professional to determine an immediate treatment in various conditions in your peripheral veins.
Blood clots can be a medical emergency as they can reach into the lungs and can cause pulmonary embolism which can be life threating. Here at Elite Community Ultrasound your health is our top priority this is why we offer this specialist scan for not only pregnant ladies but everyone who suspects they have a blood clot or has been referred from elsewhere. Pregnancy as we already know elevates the risk of developing clots due to the increase in blood volume being pumped around the body, so its vital to be checked as early as possible with our same day appointments and highly experienced practioners.
