We are pleased to now offer dry cupping available with our thereapeutic massage therapist Annette.

What is dry cupping?

Dry cupping is an ancient therapy that involves placing cups on the skin to create suction. The cups are left on a specific area on the skin or can be moved across the skin.

How does it work?

The suction pulls the skin and tissue into the cup which increases blood circulation in the area.

It is used to help with back, neck & shoulder pain, headaches, stress, anxiety, arthritis including rheumatoid arthritis, knee pain & hip pain.

Are there any side effects?

Cupping is a low risk therapy. Cupping marks can be visible for up to 7 - 10 days post treatment. Mild discomfort can be experienced during or after treatment.

Cupping should be avoided if you are taking blood thinners or have a bleeding disorder, are pregnant, have a skin condition such as eczema, psoriasis or open wounds.

Our lovely Annette has just completed her training in cupping so is looking forward to introducing it alongside the therapeutic massage she already offers. This will be a fantastic addition to the therapeutic massage and it is a traditional therapy that involves placing cups on the skin to create a suction. It is used to promote blood flow, relieve muscle tension, and support overall well-being.

Annette is extremely professional, considerate, thorough and simply good at her job. At every appointment she does a thorough check in on how I am and what I need, tailors the treatment accordingly, and then asks for feedback on how I got on when I come back. She’s also helped me with some great tips and tricks on how to tackle my pain long term in between treatments with the aim of not needing them at all anymore. A patient review 🤩

“During the original lockdown, like so many of us I started working from home but unfortunately without realising I didn’t have the correct equipment to support my posture. About halfway into the pandemic I started getting pains in my back and legs and neck and one night I woke up with an almighty cracking sound coming from my neck. From there onwards I couldn’t walk properly, I was in constant pain, I had vertigo, vision problems, my muscles kept going into spasm in my neck and back and I couldn’t lay down for three whole months and I had to sleep upright in a chair! It was horrendous, and I thought I would never be able to Work again. After speaking to my doctor, they believed I had “Tech Neck” and “Upper Cross Muscle Syndrome” amongst other MSDs and said I would have to wait up to 12 months on the NHS to get some sort of physiotherapy. This was an absolute nightmare and I realised I couldn’t wait. I needed to have treatment of some sort straightaway. so after doing some research, I found Simon’s practice on the Internet and made an appointment. I also suffer from health anxiety and OCD, so find it very difficult to talk about my health. Simon and his staff were absolutely fantastic, they put my mind at ease, explained how everything would be done and managed to book me in an intensive course of treatment. I knew wherever I had my treatment it wouldn’t be a quick fix because I had so many different things that needed to be corrected, but Simon has worked so hard correcting my posture that I am now able to lead a normal life again. I can’t thank him enough for giving me back my independence and I still continue to visit regularly as I can tell when all the muscles in my body need releasing again.
