This week we met with Lewis, founder of The Oliver Steeper Foundation who very kindly gifted a LifeVac to the Hub.

Lewis created the Oliver Steeper Foundation in memory of his son Oliver, who tragically lost his life in a choking incident at a local nursery. Since then, the foundation has been working tirelessly to help prevent similar tragedies by providing LifeVac anti-choking devices to nurseries, schools, and early years settings, as well as raising awareness around choking prevention and emergency response.

We hope it is something we never need to use, but we are incredibly grateful to have a LifeVac available at the Hub for everyone who visits — from babies right through to adults.

We also have a donation pot at the Hub for the foundation, If you are able to contribute, even a small amount helps them continue their vital work supporting local early years providers and community settings with life-saving equipment.

Here at the Hub we also host Mini First Aid Mid Kent sessions, helping parents, carers and families gain the confidence and skills to respond in an emergency — covering topics such as choking, CPR, burns and more.

Just a group of women who share a special bond through being midwives, a privileged calling that brings immense joy, deep responsibility, and at times real challenges. In this work, it’s so important that we look out for one another, just as we look out for the women and families we care for.

A wonderful morning at the Hub spent catching up, supporting each other, and making exciting plans to help shape and improve the wellbeing of our dedicated profession - our colleagues, our friends.

Here’s to strong women, compassionate care, and the power of standing together.
