Today I received a lovely message from a recent new patient in response to a post-session follow up email.

I always do my absolute best for my patients and appreciate any feedback that they have for me. It feels especially great to get feedback this nice!

There is a difference between hurt and harm, sometimes treatment will be sore or slightly unpleasant but all with the best intentions of reducing long term pain and stiffness.

Communication is incredibly important to me as a person and as a chiropractor, I always try to be transparent with my patients, educating them about what's going on and how I plan to help. I also require communication back, is it painful? Is it manageable? Do you have any questions? Can I do better?

Massage balls and resistance bands are super helpful for rehab at home and I am often sugesting that my patients get some.

Massage balls can be used to relieve muscle tension by mimicing the massage of a hand or pressure pointing like a thumb.
Resistance bands are great for rehab exercises to rebuild muscle strength and are particularly useful in shoulder and rotator cuff rehab.

I get a lot of questions about where to find them, how much will they be and will the quality be good enough. I thought I would make life a little easier and get a small stock so now, instead of going away and hunting for something suitable you can walk away with it after our session!

It's that time of year again folks! Christmas adverts are out, Mariah and Michael are on the radio once again and the early birds have started buying presents!

With such a busy and expensive time of year upon us it is easy to ignore those ni**les and tweaks, leaving it until next year to get looked at. This can lead to further issues, physical compensation and a really uncomfortable Christmas (and that's without any family drama at the dinner table!)

What a night! Thank you Smarden for being such a good crowd, definitely helped settle the nerves!
It was a pleasure to join the big bang with my very first float for my brand new business!
I couldn't have done it without my busy bee helpers who powered the "fun-bus" all night while I pranced around in the big Bee 🐝🐝

Now that we are in the run up to the (how dare I mention it this early!) Christmas season, I know there is a lot of planning involved!

What is a Chiropractor? Is that the same as an Osteopath?

That's a good question and you will get a different answer depending on who you ask!

There are many, many similarities but a common misconception is that Chiropractors are ONLY back crackers. Yes we crack backs but that is not ALL we do.
Chiropractors work with muscles, joints and the nervous system to improve mobility, reduce pain and improve the general functionality of your body. You might not have even noticed anything 'wrong' but there is normally something in there I can help with!

Of course we use chiropractic adjustments but we can also use techniques such as:
- Soft tissue work (massage, trigger pointing, massage guns etc)
- Mobilisation (a very good substitute for adjustments if you are nervous about them)
- Pelvic blocking
- Stretching
- Active release

Common conditions we work with:
- Neck, upper back, middle back and low back pain
- Sciatica
- SIJ dysfunction
- Headaches
- TMJ (jaw) pain
- Numbness/tingling/weakness in the arms or legs
- Plantar Fasciitis
- Reduced ankle mobility
- Frozen shoulder

It has been such a wonderful week meeting some of your lovely faces and hearing your stories, I look forward to meeting more of you soon!

Starting a new business is never easy and this is my first time doing it so of course there are teething problems...mainly just the rubbish phone signal in Smarden! If you have tried contacting me by phone and it hasn't gone through please send me an email instead. I am working hard to figure out a long term solution.
