1 in 5 of us in the UK are severely deficient in vitamin D.

Vitamin D activates the T cells of your immune system so that you produce a strong immune response to viruses.
But the National Diet & Nutrition Survey revealed that 90% UK population have insufficient levels and 5-20% have a severe deficiency.
Our main source of vitamin D is from sunshine direct on our exposed skin where our skin cells then use cholesterol to convert it to vitamin D3.
But in the Northern hemisphere we don’t get enough sun and when we do we’ve been warned to slap on the sunscreen.
There’s plenty of other factors that block your sun exposure too - air pollution, cloud cover, clothing, age, skin colour and obesity.
A US study last year of 19,000 people by professor Hollick found that the patients with lower levels of D3 were 54% more susceptible to catching covid 19 and they found that patients living in predominantly African-American and Hispanic zip codes were more likely to be vitamin D deficient. Makes sense doesn’t it? The darker the skin the more sun exposure you need.
Professor Hollick recommends around 3-4000iu per day in the D3 form.
I personally love taking D3 in spray form, just spray inside of mouth, job done.

Omega 3 fats are made up of both EPA and DHA, the fats found in oily fish that your body can use straight away.
For non-fish eaters there’s another fat you can get from plant foods called ALA and this is a fat your body can convert into Omega 3.
ALA-rich foods include: Flax seeds, pumpkin + h**p seeds and walnuts but bear in mind that the body’s conversion rate of ALA to Omega 3 is very poor - only 3-10% and the rest is lost. So it’s very important that you also eat the foods that contain the nutrients your body will use to make that conversion and these include: Vitamins C, B3, B6, zinc, magnesium and manganese.
You can tell quite easily if you are not getting enough Omega 3 in your diet because the symptoms are so wide ranging: Dry skin, dandruff, lifeless hair, cracked nails, dry eyes, eczema, excessive thirst, sweating, fatigue, poor memory or learning difficulties, depression, aching joints… any inflammation such as arthritis or colitis, high blood lipids, depression, PMS, breast pain, water retention and bumpy skin on the back of upper arms.

A recent publication of a major review of over 100 trials of vitamin C and the virus, found that vitamin C could save the lives of those badly infected with COVID-19 and make the symptoms of milder infections less severe.
