A.J.Gascoigne & Son funeral directors are an independent family run business established in 1986. A.J.Gascoigne & Son own & maintain Woodhorn Cemetery

With many years’ experience helping to make every funeral we direct as personal as possible. A.J.Gascoigne & Son will ensure that your loved ones funeral is organised with the utmost dignity and respect. We are competitively priced and operate a clear and open fees policy with no upfront costs and most importantly no additional fees or hidden extras. We are unique in the fact we own and maintain a private cemetery adjacent to our funeral home at Woodhorn Village which is for the sole use of the families we serve. Our dedicated professional staff offer help, advice and personal support throughout the arranging of the funeral. We offer a 24hr, 7 days a week service covering areas of Northumberland. We also offer Golden charter pre-payment plans with 3 different ones available as well as an independent way plan whereby you can arrange the funeral to your own specification. This is also available as a fixed monthly payment scheme.

As the year draws to a close, it’s common to think of the people who are special to us – especially those we've lost. That’s why we’ve chosen to take part in Light a Candle.

From 15 to 21 December we’ll be posting digital candles in memory of those who can’t be with us during the festive season. If you’d like to create a virtual candle, please click the following link where you can choose a design and write a short message to a loved one.

Thank you to everyone who came to our memorial service last night.. Again the pews were full.. We appreciate that it will be a difficult Christmas for many but we hope last night gave a little comfort to those who came..

We’re pleased to announce the return of Light a Candle this Christmas!

Taking part in this Christmas’s Light a Candle gives you the opportunity to create online memorials throughout the festive period.

Christmas is a special time to celebrate with family and friends, and our virtual candles are a thoughtful way to pay tribute to loved ones who are no longer with us.

We'll be sharing virtual candles on our page between 15 and 21 December. There's no cost for you or your family to get involved and create an online memorial.

If you are unable to make it on the night, could you please drop the unwanted tickets off into the office as there is a reserve list.
