18–24 May 2026 | Breast Cancer Prevention Week

What is Prevention Week?

Breast Cancer Prevention Week is an annual campaign led by Breast Cancer UK, dedicated to sparking conversation and sharing evidence-based tools that can help people better understand and reduce their breast cancer risk.

This year’s focus shines a spotlight on endocrine disrupting chemicals (EDCs) — substances found in everyday products such as cosmetics, food packaging, cleaning products, and cookware. These chemicals can interfere with hormonal balance and are an increasing area of concern in relation to long-term health.

EDCs – hidden chemicals, real risks

EDCs are often invisible in daily life — listed in fragrances, coatings, and packaging materials we use without a second thought. Raising awareness is the first step towards change.

Across the week, the campaign explores:

• What EDCs are and where they are found
• What current research tells us about risk
• Practical ways to reduce exposure at home
• Everyday swaps in beauty and kitchen products
• The link between hormones, environment, and health
• How individuals can take action and advocate for stronger regulation
• How small changes can contribute to wider impact

While personal choices matter, meaningful progress also requires systemic change and stronger chemical regulation.

At ISSAC, we support initiatives that empower people with knowledge, encourage informed decisions, and promote long-term wellbeing through prevention and awareness.

18–24 May 2026 | Breast Cancer Prevention Week

Breast Cancer Prevention Week is dedicated to raising awareness, encouraging open conversations, and sharing practical knowledge that can help individuals reduce their risk and make informed health choices.

This year’s focus highlights endocrine disrupting chemicals (EDCs) — substances found in some everyday products that are being studied for their potential impact on hormone balance and long-term health outcomes.

The aim is to empower people with information, promote healthier choices where possible, and support preventative approaches to wellbeing through education and awareness.

At ISSAC, we recognise the importance of prevention, early awareness, and informed decision-making in supporting long-term health.
