Ways To Wellness 9th May Open Day has few reflexology slots available to prebook (and walk ins).
See below for some benefits beyond relaxation
Thanks Reflexology by Kim xx

We often talk about how reflexology feels - calming, grounding, restorative.
But what’s happening underneath that?

A double-blind randomised controlled trial (the gold standard in research) looked at what happens in the body during a reflexology session.

Researchers measured real-time cardiovascular responses in healthy volunteers and found:
✔️ Immediate changes in haemodynamics (how blood flows through the body)
✔️ A measurable effect on cardiac function, specifically the cardiac index
✔️ Effects observed during targeted reflexology on foot areas linked to the heart

In simple terms?
This wasn’t just “feeling relaxed” — the body showed objective, physiological changes in real time.

It’s a powerful reminder that touch therapies like reflexology can have measurable impacts beyond relaxation alone.

9th May Open Day at Ashtead Youth Centre TALK discussion at 1PM:Let’s Collaborate to Sustain our Community (panel including Vikki Ede from the PFFA (Peoples Food & Farming Alliance)
By joining forces to grow food and buy from local smaller businesses in line with our values, we are able to jointly support our community and build a world we thrive in together. We hope to create structures, start conversations, plan, pool resources that we do have and define / aspire to the mission of restoring connections between hearts, minds and the earth, thereby to encourage and create meaningful change, which helps build health and resilience within people and planet. (Borrowed from the inspirational Fordhall Community Farm) Up
The intention is to gather ideas, research other communities that have preceded us and listen to likeminded people in our community who can contribute as much or as little as they have capacity for.

We are very honoured that Vikki Ede from the People’s Food & Farming Alliance (PFFA) is coming along to help us with this conversation.
This is indeed a very exciting chapter, please invite everyone you think who’d be keen to participate / contribute. If you’re interested/ keen but can’t attend, PLEASE write your ideas and send them over to us in the comments or dm & we will include them in the discussion with Vikki. The conversation can start right away anyway. Suggestions for structures, collaboration ideas, resource recommendations ALL WELCOME

9th May Open Day at Ashtead Youth Centre TALK at 12PM:Wearable Wellness: Frequency of garments (Rebecca Street)
Rebecca will explain how the frequency of the fibres, dyes and construction of our clothing can either deplete or expand our energy, thereby impacting our wellbeing.

By consciously choosing what we wear, we can enhance our wellness.”

Material Alchemy, founded by luxury fashion designer and Innovate UK award-winner Rebecca Street, pioneers the fusion of Science and Couture. Through years of research and development, the company has created a unique process for applying precious metals—such as 22-carat Gold, Silver, Copper, and Platinum—onto fabrics, transforming them into wearable technologies. Unlike jewellery, these textiles interact with the body in unexpected ways. Early scientific trials, alongside wearer experience, suggest that Gold in particular -in this format- may reduce anxiety, induce calm, quieten mental ‘chatter’, and improve sleep quality, while also opening possibilities in medical wearables and EMF-shielding. The London Assay Office has awarded Material Alchemy a Hallmark for applying these precious metals to fabric - the first of its kind in both Hallmarking and Couture. Material Alchemy bridges the precision of laboratory testing with the artistry of fashion design, producing garments and accessories that are both beautiful and functional. At its heart is a vision to enhance wellbeing through innovation, while redefining how luxury materials can be experienced in everyday life.

Open day 9th May Ashtead Youth Centre! 3pm talk: Dream Interpretation (Dr Bernhard Kelly-Patterson: psychiatrist & dream interpreter)
Humankind has been living and working with dreams across the ages and across cultures. Even for part of the 20th century dream interpretation was integral to psychiatric practice. But what has happened since? Can we afford to ignore our dreams? Many people say that they don’t dream, and if they do, they don’t remember them. What can we do about this? Bernhard will discuss simple ways of improving one’s dream life. Although his approach is predominantly Jungian, he also draws on Jacques Lacan, but stresses that plain common sense goes a long way.

Bernhard is probably the foremost dream interpreter worldwide!
