Nappy changes can feel never-ending. And, when you’re struggling with a wriggly baby multiple times a day, it can be tempting to leave everything you need stored close by.

But nappy sacks can kill small babies.

Young babies under six months naturally grasp things and pull them to their mouths, but then find it difficult to let go.

As nappy sacks are very thin, they can easily cling to a baby’s face as they breathe in and can tragically result in suffocation or choking.

So, remember to keep nappy sacks well out of reach of children when changing them and never put them in a buggy or cot.

Our The University of Salford students Molly and Sherneal who are out on placement with the South team took a trip to over to Little Green Sock today for an insight into the amazing work they do for our community!

This morning we had some helping hands from student nurses from currently on their community placement.

It’s great to highlight the role baby banks have in supporting children from the earliest possible stage and directly addressing health inequalities that families from disadvantaged backgrounds face through material deprivation.

It was also great to show how public services and charity sector work closely together to address challenges in our local community.

The girls got hands on putting bundles together and checking equipment, and seeing the time it takes and the care put in to every bundle so families feel valued.

Thanks for your help ladies!

In the UK, over 6000 years of life are lost every year to accidental drowning. Children and young people are among the worst affected – more than a quarter of people who accidentally drowned in the last five years were aged 10 to 29.
Today, to mark World Drowning Prevention Day, water safety experts are urging everyone to learn how to keep themselves safe in and around water by practising an essential self-rescue skill: how to float.

You can also practise your float by heading to a safe swimming location such as a swimming pool or lifeguarded beach.
