Happy AHP day to our Podiatry colleagues. So important in the care of the foot in diabetes πŸ‘£πŸ’™

It's AHP day on Saturday but we begun our celebrations at Tameside today with a fantastic presentation day.

Podiatry & High Risk Foot Team were nominated for 'AHP team of the year' we didn't win but we're super pleased to have been recognised out of 15 AHP roles within the NHS!

Not all our team could be with us for the day (patients to treat!) but we are extremely proud of our podiatrists & the work they all do.
We did win some individual awards though & we'll share the winners later

Clare from our High Risk Foot Team says:
"Applying daily foot cream to your feet is a vital part of ensuring your feet stay hydrated & prevent any painful cracks to the skin"
Try a urea based cream on persistently dry areas.

This is essential for all with diabetes, especially those people who may not show their feet to anyone else!

Selina from our High Risk Foot Team says
"attend your annual diabetes foot screening"
Why?
Getting your foot pulses and the sensitivity of your feet checked yearly is beneficial as changes can occur over time that you may not realise. Have a professional see your feet and give advise or refer you for full podiatry assessment if necessary. If you're overdue this check then contact your GP practice and get booked in!!

Christine from our community podiatry team advises "get your feet measured!"
Why is this important?
Shoes need to fit properly to avoid rubbing and causing blistering this is particularly important if you have loss of feeling due to diabetes.

TEAM BUILDING πŸ‘£
The High Risk Foot Team finally got out for a bowling session last weekend, in lieu of a Christmas do! (Matt won btw! πŸ₯³)
It's so important to have regular team gatherings and not just work related meetings. We don't always see each other daily or even sometimes weekly due to the amount of sessions we cover across community & hospital settings.
