📣 Important Update: We’re Moving to Rapid Health on 21st April 2026

We want to let all our patients know that from the 21st April, the way you contact the surgery will be changing as we move over to Rapid Health.

We know many of you are comfortable with our current booking system, and as a surgery we haven’t had major issues with it. That’s why we want to be open about this change.

We’re not switching because something is “wrong” — we’re switching because Rapid Health gives us better tools to keep up with growing demand and to make sure every patient gets the right care as quickly and safely as possible.

Rapid Health will help us:

▪️Review requests more efficiently and safely
▪️Prioritise patients based on clinical need
▪️Reduce phone queues, especially at busy times
▪️Direct you to the most appropriate clinician or service first time
▪️This change is about future‑proofing the way we work so we can continue offering the high standard of care you expect from us.

📱 Setting Up the NHS App

To get the most out of Rapid Health, we strongly recommend that patients set up the NHS App before 21st April.

The NHS App allows you to:

▪️Access Rapid Health quickly
▪️View your medical record
▪️Order repeat prescriptions
▪️See test results
▪️Manage your personal details

How to set up the NHS App:

▪️Download the NHS App from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store
▪️Create an NHS login using your email address
▪️Follow the on‑screen steps to verify your identity
▪️Once set up, you’ll be able to use the app to access Rapid Health from 21 April

If you need help setting up the NHS App, our team will be happy to support you.

We understand that change can feel like a big adjustment, and some of you may prefer the old system. We’ll guide you through the transition and make sure you feel confident using Rapid Health.

🚨Norovirus: information for visitors, families and carers🚨

Norovirus, known as the ‘winter vomiting bug’, is on the rise in local communities.

It is essential that visitors do not attend Tameside Hospital if they have experienced any symptoms of norovirus in the last 48 hours.

Common symptoms include:
• sudden onset of nausea, followed by projectile vomiting and diarrhoea, usually 1 to 2 days after becoming infected
• high fever and headache
• aching arms and legs.
